M6 is just 6-speed manual transmission.

just to cap that off, unless you figured it out already, A4 would be the 4 speed automatic trans.

Hey there and welcome to the site, dont even worry about the m6 question, there are are so many abreviations on car forums that sometimes it takes me a minute(or a few) to figure out what some people are talking about.

On to the handheld you mentioned, I would (and im sure others will post on here with the same advice) NOT get the Diablosport Predator handheld tuner, a real tune done by a professional tuner is much better. I actually have the exact handheld tuner your talking about. the diablosport with an SLP tune. ITS NOT WORTH THE MONEY. I would only get it if you were getting it for a really really good deal. (like craigslist or something) and then its only good for reading codes, deleteing skip shift, and changing things like tire size and gearing. The tune on it is no good, from what i've read all they do is lean out the motor a to pull a few extra ponies and i would bet it wouldnt even show on the dyno. not worth the price tag it has IMHO
