    Best Gas?

So, I've filled up twice since I bought my car. Each tank was driven more or less the same way (a couple of full-throttle sprints onto the freeway, more or less not exceeding the speed limit, otherwise normal driving).

On the first fill up, I used Shell gasoline. My first quarter tank got me 90 miles. The tank itself got me 255 miles. On the second tank, I ues AAFES gas, I drove 89.5 miles and used more than 3/8 of a tank.

Anyone else notice that different fuel mileage on different brands of gas? What gets the most miles per tank?

    ************************
    Fill Up #1 (Shell):
    1/4: 90 miles
    3/4: 255 miles
    20 mpg

    Fill Up #2 (AAFES):
    1/4: 66 miles
    7/8: 246 miles
    18 mpg

    Fill Up #3 (Chevron):
    1/4: 110 miles
    3/4: 270 miles
    24 mpg

    Fill Up #4 (Chevron)
    1/4: 99 miles
    1/2: 175 miles
    9/10: 282 miles
    22 mpg
(I'll wait to fill up before I calculate mileage)

I am now on fill up number 5 and have added the TCW3 two stroke engine oil to the gas.
    Fill UP #5 (Chevron)
    1/4: 107 miles
    1/2: 170 miles

I used to kepp track to check the tune after we redid it a few times and ocassionally I'll reset the trip counter to see what I'm getting when I retune it or change the plugs. My tune has cahnged my mileage like the crap dyno tune I used to have but as far as what station I get it at doesn't seem to make a different.

    i only get 93 octane...

i end up going to sonoco (because its convenient) or Hess

In reality i'm sure gas stations buy whatever is the cheapest supply on the market at the time. But i'm not really sure how it works in detail. i make sure i go to gas stations that get a lot of people usually. that way you know the gas is usually newer and hasnt been sitting because its such a "high traffic" gas station.. or atleast thats my opinion on it

Since i got my car out of storage:

    1st tank: 18 mpg
    2nd tank: 19 mpg
3rd tank (after install slp lid): 20mpg
    4th tank: 21mpg

on a side note, i would say the lid improved my gas milage. however, that 3rd tank was when i started having to drive on the highway to classes again.. BUT all those tanks were with spirited driving

Exxon or shell is the best gas imho. Always run high octane fuel. I stopped using Sunoco gas after finding metal shavings in my tank and filter. Which of course is why I had to replace my pump.

I've never had any bad luck with BP. I've used it religiously in my SS since I bought it new in 02 and never had any issues. I recently started using Shell as well and haven't noticed any difference over using BP.

This site was created by a joint venture between a lot of automakers who had their own people test the fuel.

    Sadly now demodded :(

I use QT, but all the premium gas here in PHX is 91.

All gas is refined the same. The difference is in the additive package they put in after they fill the delivery truck.

It really has nothing to do with being "filtered" but more to do with the additives and detergents gas companies add.
