99 SS trade for a 96?
Question for everyone. I have a 99 hugger orange ss with 20k miles on it. Auto t-tops leather 12 disc changer. It's mint and I've owned it for going on 9 years now. I've wanted an arctic white 96 ss since high school and I've finally found one with all the bells and whistles with only 9 thousand miles on it. All stock but hardtop. The dealer wants to do my 99 plus 1500 cash for it. Do I give up the car that's also rare and I've had for this long for an older ss that is all original? Will I regret it later on is basically what I'm asking. Please post thoughts. Thank you, Jim

I wouldn't do it if it were me, your car is worth way more

I would not do it either. But its your car so go with what makes YOU happy.
If you do want the white one sell yours privately

I'd keep both imho, and buy the 96 out right..

If it were my I wouldnt. As you know the LS power plant is better than the LT powerplant. Also I think that your car is worth more. I went from a Ttop car to a hard top and really regretted that. I would stick with the Hugger SS, IMO.

Sell the 2010 and buy the 96 haha. But really I would keep the ls1 if I were you. The ls1 is faster and hugger orange is gorgeous

I'd keep the LS1 for sure
but.. you do have a 2010... so having something that you have wanted since high school. That would be cool. I still think the 99 is a better car IMO

Keep the 99 Its a way better looking car and way better motor. I have had 3 LT1 cars and I have had this 02 LS1 Z28 for a year and I will never go back to a LT1 ever again. The LS power plants is where its at..

You make it sound like you really really want that car. Personally if I were you I would never trade your car with that dealer for that 96, sell your car yourself and than go buy that car with the cash from your sale. I say this only if you are ok with the older engine tech and really want a non t-top car. Otherwise sell your 99 yourself and start searching for the White SS with the options you truly want.

It will be tough finding another 96 the color you want with those miles. I personally would not make the trade but I like the LS models better. All that being said even if you really want the car they should be giving you at least 1500 back on that trade not you giving them 1500.

+1 to this. A 96 in perfect stock form isn't so old or rare as to be more valuable than your 99 in excellent condition, is it? The mileage difference isn't that significant for vehicles of these ages...
I say sell the 2010 and keep the 96 and 99! You'll be able to find 5th gens for years and years to come!
