I would say the '02 should win.
And the '98 has 305hp stock. - With a lid and free mods i would say you have probably another 10hp+.
But its gunna be one hell of a race!! It could go either way. The '98 could easily win with a better launch.

black- 2001 Camaro SS M6
who ever is the better driver....also..if either car has the option of 3.23.
why do people ask these questions...if both cars only have a difference of 10 hp...it doesn't mean the one with more power will win. one kid could weigh 300lbs which would out weigh the benefit of the extra power. Shit he could have a dead hooker in his trunk and it would make a difference at that point because the cars are so close.

Hugger Orange/W stripes- 1999 Z28 M6
It ain't gonna be the car, it'll be the driver.
The better driver and/or the one who runs the most mistake-free race. That's assuming same traction, weight, and who doesn't blink at the wrong time!!!
'99 and 2000 (?) used slightly smaller injectors, then in 2001 (I think) they went back to the same injector flow rate as the '98. From what I've read/heard, it didn't make much difference. There was a slightly different - more efficient - combustion chamber area in the latter models, LS6 manifold is a slight advantage, but I have to admit the different hp ratings on the LS1's seems more of an "improvement hype" remark more than anything. Factory freaks in '98 or '99 will be right up there or better than "normal" later models.
Final answer: It's going to be the driver's skills deciding this race.
Have fun,

Drivers race..and the GU5 will help like Danger said. The 02 has the ls6 manifold so that'll help some up top...especially if he gets a lid and does the free mods.
Also if one of the Z's didn't come with Z-rated tires then it's got a speed limiter tuned in....I think it's set in the 120's. Check the driver door for the rpo codes and factory tire rating.Last edited by SeVeReDiStOrTiOn; 06-05-2006 at 09:38 AM.
