5speed for ls1 into my supra tko?

sorry to post here in camaro but i didn't get any hits in lsx transmission threads. so i am looking to put a 5speed behind my ls1 out of a 99camero. What trans options do i have? and where can i get parts? thanks alot

any particular reason on 5 speed? 5 speed auto or manual? im guessing your trying to use the stock supra manual tranny? i'm not sure you will be able to put the lsx bellhousing on that toyota tranny if that is the case. let alone if it would hold up to the torque. the manual trannies that came with camaros/firebirds/corvettes with ls1 motors were 6 speed t56's. i wouldnt expect the t56 to fit perfectly under the supra. but i have never seen that kind of a swap either. more than likely the 4 speed 4l60e(auto) or t56 will fit with some work. but again reliability comes to mind with the rear end also. not sure how the stock drivetrain will hold up to the ls1 in any possible way if your playing with the car. especially with the turbo 87 supra putting out 230 fwhp which would easily be under 200 rwhp and no clue on the tq numbers, but they couldnt be much higher. the ls1's have been well known to hit just under 300 rwhp and over 300rwtq with 00 and lower models.

well i don't want to use the supra trans. just that the 6 speed will not fit easily. It will make the shifter about 2 inches to far back and would not be able to use the center console. I am looking at the tramic 500 or 600 from summit.

if the shifter is 2 inches back then some trimming might be in order. it will be hard to find a tranny that will sit right under that car and fit the ls1. i get the feeling it is going to be quite expensive unless you have the will to trim the pieces, and the skill to do it without destroying the pieces.

ya. i am thinking about trimming it to. just don't want it to be ugly.
