502rwhp M6 Needs Traction/tire Advise!

I'm running stock shocks, V6 springs in the back and the front sway bar is disconnected. I'm on 315/35/17 Nitto 555R's now...their good for the street but I'm thinkin about a 15" rim and a wrinkle wall tire for the track. I want to be able to launch @5000rpm

5000 RPM's? I'd be more worried about something snapping along the way, U-joint, Rear end, axle, something. In my opinion, tires are kind of like the fuse in an electrical system, you want that to be youre weakest point.

315's are a big ass tire, If your having that hard of a time with traction then go for it, but if its just a little scratching off the line I'd leave it

Also I have a strange 12 bolt rear w/4.11 gears a nitrous ready DS, lower control arms and a torque arm. I launch at 3000-3500 rpm now! I'm spinning through 1st and into 2nd

Ok, sounds good to me, i figured you would have mentioned that in your original post.

A buddy of mine had a truck with about 500HP, similar setup to yours, He had problems with traction all the way down the track, it fished around the whole way. He added traction bars and wrinkle walls, cut his spinning just about in half, and picked up a few tenths. I don't know the exact specs of his tires, but they looked like your typical M/T slicks to me

I run Qa1's all around, UMI suspension pieces, 27X11.5 Hoosier QTP's and can launch at 6200.

15" rim I assume?!? do you think I'll get beter hook on that than the new 315/35/17 Hoosiers or the 315/35/17 ET Street Radials? I want what ever will work the BEST it sucks when you cant get traction.

I had the same issue. However, im still running stock rearend. I just keep replacing the center. Anyway,, i also run 315/35/17's.. How much Air u running. I usually run around 32 to 35 on road.. I run about 28-30 on track. It has the same effect as ripple walls. Makes your car want to squat a little.. Tricky at first, but I began pulling .503 lights, and anywhere from .98-1.5 60' times. Depends on what kinda day im having.. i also have an M6.. hope that helps.. KD

Wow .98-1.5 60' on a 10 bolt! What kind of drag radials are they? I have nitto's now I've tried between 15-30psi at the track, and 32 on the street. (wearing in the middle)

Hey, i managed to get my hands on a set of BF Goodrich KDW's before Michelin quit making them. They are strictly street tires. At the track, i bypass the water pot, and simply just light them up once. They are good sticky tires. They freakin just squat and stick.. Its nice!

Got them at Discount Tire.. You may want to see if they have something comprable.
