2002 SS camros ganna drop in value now?

So I'm looking at getting a new car and right now I'm thinking what I'd like is either like a 2002 SS camaro or I might go the "more responsible" route and get like a V6 altima. Since I don't have anywhere near unlimited funds my first instinct is that the altima would be wiser, but then I thought that the camaro are sort of semi-classics and may hold their value a bit more. But now we have the problem of new camaros coming out.

So what do you guys think? are 1998-2002 ss/z28's going to drop in value now that the new ones are coming? or do you still think they'll hold their value much better than a sedan. Assuming both cars are in pretty good condition with relativley low miles a few years down the road when i'm looking to sell. Thanks!

Unless you're buying a classic... I wouldn't buy a car with the thoughts of worrying what the value will be down the road. In this economy, no one really knows when it will bounce back anyway.

Buy what you want to drive and what you can afford right now.

If you can afford it, I'd say now is an OK time to purchase a sports car. They are getting much cheaper mostly because of the economy. But as said before, purchase what YOU want to drive and what you like.

For reference, I paid 12.5K for a 1999 SS M6 with 49,000 miles in April of 2008 in awesome condition.

KBB and NADA tell me it's worth about 8-9k with 57,000 on it now

Noone can predict the future. Back in the day if people would have known which cars were going to be worth what my dad along with many others would be rich.
