mystic teal metallic- 1998 Z/28
1st ls1 ss vert 6-spd ever built, gone tomorrow
1 of only 2 pre production,ss convertible pilot cars built,(1 m6 + 1 auto) mine is the m6,It's the 1st ls1 ss m6 vert ever built.with docs to prove it.
+ the only ss of any year, hartop or convertible to be painted in a color not even available on the ss (mystic teal)."AND" Because chevy started building the ss's
in 98 instead of slp, that also makes this the 1st manual trans ss convertible built by chevy since 1969.
+ like an idiot I'm actually selling it tommorrow, can you believe that.

mystic teal metallic- 1998 Z/28
I just dont drive it,+ winter is coming, etc,
+ even when i bought it i didnt really know what i was going to do with it, just knew i wanted it. + wanted to keep it from being further modified,
The guy buying it is in his forties, + has a small collection of chevy SS's (all older stuff) + is a purist like myself + will put it back to stock + keep it that way. I'm not against mods, but on a car like this, mods are sacraligious, + detract from the car bigtime. The mods are small + easily changed, (light bar, stainless ss emblems, race type pedals,)
MY goal when i bought it was to place it in the right hands + make sure the car gets preserved, i feel i'm doing that. It's actually a piece of camaro history + needs to be treated that way. There is enough driver cars out there, this one needs to be
Hopefully i helped it survive,by buying it + not someone who was going to use it as there only means of transportation, + or further modify it.
I really would have liked to see it go to a huge collection or chevy museum type situation, but it was kind of spur of the moment,I really should have called around + tried to place it somewhere, but i'm satisfied where its going.I would not have sold it as a daily driver.
As for price,I'm letting it go for about the normal price of a mint low mile 6 spd ss vert so he's getting a Great Deal. I could have asked for more + i know he would have payed it, but i was more interested in the right person gettng it.

the '96 & '97 models were modified completely by SLP. Only V6 models and Z28s left the factory and when directly to dealers. They would send stock Z28's to SLP in montreal and cars was then turned into a SS. Then sent back to Sainte-Thérèse and shipped to dealers.
Once the '98s came out not all SS not all went to SLP- some were completely built by GM. Only the ones with SLP options were sent to SLP in montreal.

mystic teal metallic- 1998 Z/28
slp built the 96 + 97's , chevy sent them z/28's + they made ss's out of them.
In 98 chevy built the ss,+ were nly sent to slp for extra slp options.
my profile says a Z/28 because thats what i had when
when i joined this sight, I had a mystic Z/28,then i found out there was 1 mystic ss vert built + was able to find + buy it, then found out it was a pilot car + the first 1 built, the guy i bought it from only knew it was a 1 of 1 mystic ss not the rest.

mystic teal metallic- 1998 Z/28
on the thread that 99bluez put up with the pics, if you go to page 1 of that thread there is also a couple pics of the mystic Z/28
Ps.he came + gave me a check today for the car.
Its still n the garage till it clears though.
It is staying in ma.+ only going about 25 miles away,
+ he is giving me 1st shot if he ever goes to sell it. I think
he's not even going to register it. + it will be stored in a climate controled garage with some kind of special padded floor, I think he called it a nascar type floor?
Mission accomplished!

Blue- 2002 Z28 Camaro M6
It is a great price for a Fbody I paid more for my 2002 with 120k. Maybe I should go back and get a refund Sounds like it went into some really good hands though. The price really is only something I think that you and the buyer need to worry about now.
