well i have definently made up my mind not to get anything below v8. Just dont see myself in a slow car.
i understand what you are saying with the power of an ls1. im sure i can handle it as long as i dont do anything real stupid. ridden in ls1 cars before and they straight haul

the mileage isn't the problem. ls1tech has members with over 150K. i have 175k on mine. however, for $6k, i would wonder if there's mechanical problems with it. or if it's a salvage title. cause normally, they'd run about $8k. that's the blue book value anyway. also, if you pay for it all in cash, you may get a discount.

that makes me feel better about high miles then... since yours has 175
i probably will only put 5k miles per year on it so it will last until i save up the money for the 5th gen.

The mileage is about 10,000 over. But its not bad for the price, IF thats the only problem.

I'm sure you're capable of making decisions on your own, and I'm trying really hard to not lecture, but you've got to be very careful in an LS1. I'd recommend an LT1 for a first car; Still quite powerful, sound mean, plentiful parts, and you're less likely to kill yourself. I was 16 once, not that long ago, and I'm positive that I would have wrecked my current car if I had it then. Fast car + inexperience + Youthful ego + friends = baaaaad things. Either way, have fun with what you get, look locally in ads and such, private seller prices are always better, and you typically know exactly what you're getting.

you would kill yourself in a Lt1 just as easily, and if you bought one, you wouldnt stop wanting a LS1, so just bite the $$ bullet and get the LS1, even if it means saving up for another couple months

honestly, i don't think you should get an ls1 as your first car. not until you have been driving for at least a year and worked out a lot of your stupid/careless/ignorant habits. i am 19 and can say i learned an incredible amount about driving after my first year. but if you are a specially mature young male, capable to dispensing hp responsibly, then i'd consider it. otherwise, you may end up killing yourself. just my .02.

well where i live (VA) you have to have your permit for 9 months before you can obtain your liscense which is a temporary 90 day. After that you get your permanent liscense when you go to court. So i do have alot of driving experience not saying im professional by any means..but i have learned alot and i think im ready for a high per. car .

knowing how stupid i was when i had my corsica when i was 16 im surely would of killed my self in my car that i have now. a 400 RWHP car when i was 16 was not a good combo. hell now i never break the speed limit on the street and I usually only speed on the track. but good luck in whatever you decide on.

here is what i did when i hit 17 man, i bought a 1970 chevelle(running) and messed with that, it taught me a lot about cars also man, and was a lot of fun. u might want to think of doing something like that to be original

cus i have wanted a 69' camaro like all my life..and i was going to get a project car and rebuild it there because i got no tools at my house
but now imma just get a 4th gen and sup it up.

Im currently looking for a 69 camaro for a fixer upper car. But by me having this 98 Z28 and wanting to sup it up is costing me more then i can afford already. I cant imagine what it would be like with an older model car. I wouldnt suggest buying an older model fixer upper unless youre rockafellah!!

    Hi Guys,
Just joined the forum, I have a 99 Camaro for sale at the moment with 75000kms on it......Don't get excited its downunder, right hand drive and getting nibbles at AUD$36000!!! Thats about USD$27000...I'm sitting back having a chuckle about the prospect of a sixteen year old in Australia having a Camaro...On a serious note, think about what you are doing, its one powerful car combined with inexperience, not a good mix but good luck. Rgds
