02 z28 - factory freak?
So I was talking with a co-worker about my car which I recently put up for sale. She mentioned her dad was selling his z that was 400+ hp. I said nice and asked for a build sheet to see what he had done. This is what I got back.
SLP Longtube headers, high flow cats, 3" exhaust into a Magnaflow muffler, SLP ram air through a K&N filter, Granatelli MAF, T5.0 shifter, aftermarket cross drilled rotors with Hayes Blue brake pads and Aftermarket Z06 17" rims, computer tuned by Motorsports Tech. Dynoed at 404 HP and 436 FT.LBS torque.
I've heard of some factory freaks late in 02, but I cannot see this even remotely possible with what's mentioned. Did they put a Z06 cam in any late model 02's that anybody knows of, or did the shop lie to the dude about his dyno tune they gave?
If this is true than an LS1 is an LS1 statement that gets thrown around isn't true. It would be an LS1 could be greater than an ls2/ls3.

Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
With all those SLP parts, I am guessing that was done on an SLP dyno, which explains a lot of the problem right there. I also wonder if that 404 HP is not flywheel instead of RWHP?
There was no Z06 cam put into an LS1 as an option or from the factory.
Dyno numbers can be skewed to whatever you want them to be. The tune could be lean as hell, graphs can be altered, etc. The real test of how fast a car is, is at the track, not a dyno graph.

I understand completely. Just can't imagine this stock ls1 car with header, maf and tune popping out 400/430 to the floor. They said it gained 50 from before to after tune so that would've been 350 stock to the wheels their first pull.

I call major on that one.
Like Preston said, at the crank... maybe... on a cold winters night... with really good gas... and a lot of tweaking...

Yeah that's gotta be at the crank, even with full bolt on's and a cam I just barely cracked 400rwhp on the dyno

Well, from what I've read it's a rare color combo of maroon/tan convertible. It looks like the guy has paid for all the work, so I was just trying to figure out if he was jacking with me or if someone lied to him. They legitimately say that it was dyno tuned and those were the numbers after the tune.
Anyways, thanks for the comments guys. I'll let you see it when I can get the link.

06 Jeep Grand Cherokee.- 02 superchipsZ28 M6(sold)
reminds me of a guy at work bragged about his T/A being 440 hp, i said whats done to it. he says nothing its stock i said lets run em after work so we do, i'd pull on him on top end. other than that head to head race almost. he came to work and said mine wasnt stock i had to have over 500hp easy. i said no previous ower had a superchips programmer and it had exhaust other than that stock. i told him his girlfriends(he tells me it is) T/A was bone stock and had 345 hp at the flywheel, he felt like an idiot.

There are differences in each car from the factory. Some could have had better casting on particular parts or have been on the low or high side of the tolerance range. This could cause some change in output of the engine. This should be clear by the range of numbers posted on here as to what a particular car model produces stock. But 350 at the wheels from the factory.
More like 350 on an engine dyno.

Without a cam or intake parts, 360-375 at the rear wheels would be hard to believe. Since that's where mine is at with more bolt-ons.

Amazing how they think stickers add power. I thought they were meant to cover rust holes.
