    00 Camaro SS horsepower question!?!

    I just purchased a 00' SS 6 speed.RED,T-tops,leather

It only has 6085 miles on it and is absolutely pristine. It is also fast as hell, but my question is...with the list of mods provided can anyone tell me what it approximately is putting out powerwise?
I have yet to dyno it since I just bought it,just trying to get an idea!?!

    SLP induction kit w/smooth bellows
    MDS ignition
    NDK plugs/wires
    Granatelli high flow MAF 85mm
    3" Texas Racing X-Pipe
    3" flowmaster outlaw mufflers
    Hooker longtube headers

Other than that it has B&M shifter, sway bar kit, torsion bar and is fully loaded!
    Did I mention I freakin love LS1 Camaro's!!!

ANY HELPFULL INPUT WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

my guess is 330ish. Ditch the flowmasters and MAF. Flowmasters flow like shit on ls1's and the MAF will do more bad than good. The minimal gains if any at all arent worth the headaches. New guys make that mistake, the stock one is good for around 500 or so at the wheels. Next invest in an ls6 intake and port/polish the throttle body. That alone is good for about 15rwhp. Id say with wut iv suggested and a tune, u should have no problem reaching 350rwhp.

I'd guess about 335rwhp with the LTs, lid and exhaust providing all the HP gains...

id say about 335 at the wheels. the best mod you got on there is the true dual exhaust setup, followed by the slp kit. the maf and smooth bellows prob arent doing anything so they're worthless. sell them and take the money and put it into an ls6 intake, then port your tb yourself. you also might wanna consider swapping the crappy slp cai piece for a real one like the ftra or ssra. both should give you at least 5 more hp over what you have now.

Everybody keeps talking about Throttle bodies, bill strope, (on of the top GM tuners in the country) told me that they are a waste unless youve got heads and cam done you dont need it. Nice find on the car by the way. wish mine still had less than 7K. have fun. I agree with everyone else. ditch the flows and go with a borla or perhaps a corsca.

sigh, it sucks hearing everyone bag on flowmasters. I got my 80 series installed in July. I always figured Flowmasters would be the best since they have a good reputation with the classic muscle cars. only cost me 280 tho for the whole catback.

from what i hear they just dont have much if any gains in hp/tq vs stock......so there costing u 5-10 hp vs a borla/corsa/slp lm etc etc ..but they saved u a few bucks and they sound great....really no big deal

Flowmaster gets its reputation from the sound, not the performance.

    Thanks for the input guys!

As far as the MAF...I'll leave it in unless you think it hurts the performance?

The FLOWMASTER setup is just racing series mufflers which can't possibly be restrictive seeing as they are attached right to the 3" Texas X-pipe. Not that I know for sure!?!

320-340whp. Get rid of the flowmaster, get a tune. I bet it is pig rich.

EDIT: I would stay with a stock MAF.

    MODs

    Hey fellas,

I just bought a 1998 SS on Tuesday. I got it at a great price ($4000). I am now looking to make mods to it. I want to make it break the 400 horse mark. The engine is bone stock except for a K&N filter. I know what I want to do but I want y'all's input! Remember, I am from the People's Republic of California. I have to stay smog legal.

    Here are my thoughts:

-JBA 1807S Headers (although it would seem to me that the stockers would flow about the same)
-Random Technologies High flow cats (don't know if these are legal yet!?)
    -SLP cold air intake
-Bellows (i know y'all dont like it but I already bought it)
    -SLP Lid
    -Fast intake manifold
    -msd coils
-some kind of programmer (diablosport II by SLP??) or dyno tuning (dont know where to go for this in SAcramento area--any help would be appreciated)
    -Fast fuel rails
-36lb/hr injectors (don't know if smog legal)
-it has slp dual/dual exhaust but it seems really quiet to me. How is the flow on them?? I was thinking slp loudmouth or similar found on Berger Camaros.
-Tranny shift kit and higher stall converter.
-MSD 8.5mm or 9mm ignition wires.

Any recommendations welcome. Did I mention I Love my SS too!

Anyways, thanks in advance to your responses. I appreciate them!! FYI--My ultimate goal is to have an SS that is as comfortable on the street as it is in a race. Not that I will ever race it...unless really provoked!! I do not condone street racing as I have seen way too many MVAs involving this particular activity. Therefore, I try to avoid if possible. Remember y'all...drive safe out there. People are nuts. Thanks again

    My Mistake

Sorry, will start new thread. I thought that since the thread was about horsepower, I would interject. i will start a new one. Sorry about that.

As for the car, it is not salvaged. It has 144K on the clock. Plus the guy thought that his tranny was going out. I had it checked out and the tranny checks out fine. His ABS sensors were bad adn were causing the ABS to pulse all the time. The processor was thinking that the rear tires were at 120 MPH and front tires were at 2 MPH! The car is at my buddy's shop getting that sorted out. But everything else checks out great. I love the car.

Here in Sacramento, I was able to only find SS camaros at $9K-$15K with 90-100K on the clock.
