ZR1 creepin in the 9's with Nitto Drag Radials.
Video: Modded ZR1 Breaks Into the 9′s on Nitto Drag Radials - LSXTV
It’s been established that a bone stock Corvette ZR1 can run as fast as 10.33 with a bit of help from a grippy set of drag radials. Well, how about a modified ZR1? Could a few bolt-ons and some tuning get a ZR1 into the realm of single digit E.T.’s? Thanks to this YouTube video filmed in south Texas, we can answer that question with a firm “yes”.Last edited by bluehawk2000; 02-20-2012 at 01:14 PM.

When did Nitto make a radial that grips? Makes it more impressive

The NT05 DR's are relatively new. I've been reading some really good reviews on them online the last several months.
It has me almost contemplating them over the Mickey's as I think I'll get a little more tread life out of the Nitto's.

The 555 drs wear pretty well but don't hook worthg talking about. Seemed like they were spinning some but tough to determine traction with a vette

I think a lot has to do with your set-up. I had the 555r DR's in only a 275 and my car was dead hooking on the street, even in 1st with 4.11 gears and that was after my Procharger install.
I'm really curious to know if anyone here runs the 05's.
My Nitto's lasted about 12K miles. There's some tread left on them now, but once the weather got a little colder and the tread wore down, I had zero traction all the way through 3rd or until I hit about 60.
I will say though that the Nitto 555r DR's sucked at the track. My 60' time was marginally better with those over the stock OEM Goodyears.

I agree about set up. The Mickeys and Hoosiers don't seem to be quite as finicky though

Nitto has the NT01,NTO5, 555R, and another radial I cannot think of right now, but I used to work for the company that distributed those tires, had a guy that had a twin turbo'd SRT-8 Challenger built by Banks, that was all he would run on his cars, plus his Z06 for the track plus the 555's that he daily drove about 100 miles a day.
I do know that the 05's and 01's are not for highway use, that is what they stated on the stickers on the tires themselves. But they are some pretty sticky tires just comparing them to just the regular 555R.

I wonder why they are not rated for highway use, but are a drag radial? Certainly can't be speed rating. Any idea?

Also Toyo owns Nitto, we didn't deal with Toyo for the simple fact Toyo was to expensive, which didn't make sense to me since it was a 500 million dollar company a year!!

All around drag radial I would go with the 555R, even the NT01 but I know for a fact the NT05 is not for highway use!! Either way Nitto has come up in the world with there radial tires.

I think its cya for if someone crashes in the rain etc while driving on them. D.O.T Hoosier slicks and I believe radials say the same thing
