That series of pics have been around for awhile. The antibear hunters in new jersey(spit spit spit) pardon me had to get the taste of those words out of my mouth. uses those pics to try to make a point saying "feeding the bears and bird feeders are the problem" I turned it around though and said that they (the bears) are intelligent animals and will sove problems and this just prooves that they can, the only way to deal with them is by culling them. relocating them does no good since they will make their way back.

I would say much less, maybe 200 - 250 I have seen 300 lb plus bears up here, they dwarf that one. I am thinking since the rope wasnt that tight it probably gave enough that breaking was not possible.

I read somewhere that we have black bears down here as far South as Louisiana but they're smaller. I've never seen one but I gather bears are a big pain in the ass, the photos here being exhibit A. Maybe he thought the bird feeder was a picnic basket
