Actually he is ready to fire someone. It is reported that Yankee coach Joe Torre is going to be replaced.

Torre still has his job -- for now. Hours after New York was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs again, the Daily News reported Sunday that demanding owner George Steinbrenner was likely to fire his longtime manager and replace him with old favorite Lou Piniella.

It might be time for Torre to leave...
    Lou Pinella isn't the answer.

They really need to take a step back and tear this team down.
They forgot how they won those Championships in the 90's....

gotta get rid of mr. april - september. anyone with a .098 batting avg in the playoffs is a pressure choke-a holic. A-rod is great during the year but in the playoffs they should have benched him. Although when you give up 6 and 8 runs in games you have to look at pitching too.

Problem with the yanks is they are used to winning and they forget the desire to play and forget about the money. The tigers wanted the series more and they played harder and better.

Just goes to show that you can't buy chemistry. Unfortunately, Stienberenner hasn't figured this out. Out of all the professional team sports, baseball is more TEAM than any of the rest. It is not an individual's game. George might figure that out one day.

I agree. I think that baseball needs to go to a salary cap system. Even though the Yankees didn't win it would make baseball in general more competitive. If you are going to be good and stay good you are going to have to be creative. It levels the playing field.
