XBOX360 Help
Has anybody experience this with their 360?
We've tried every game and they won't read. Just started.
It always says "open tray", we close it, it reads then asks for us to open tray again.

Does it do the same for dvds? Can you hear the disc motor spinning? If so, maybe try running a cleaner in it. Never had that problem with mine, and it's about five years old or so. If you can't hear the motor, it's possible that it has gone bad.

I think we fixed it. We turned it straight up and laid it flat again and now it seems its working.

Something sticking, maybe moving broke it free? Easy fix at least!

mine does the same thing it spins and then stops and says to open tray and you do it over and over until 1 it reads or 2 you get fed up. It does it with dvd and games on mine. The only way i have fixed mine was to kick it or slam it down from a height of about six inches. This doesnt totally fix it but does temporarily.

Step 1: Unplug Xbox
Step 2: Go on a high roof
Step 3: throw Xbox from said roof.
Step 4: buy the new Xbox version. Shit's way better.

Had the same problem with mine did the towl trick and it worked like a charm, if it happens agin you could try that or the fridge trick. The problem is the disc drive its self is bad but it happened to mine like a year ago and its still goen strong (knock on wood) good luck.

I've fixed numerous Xbox's doing the "penny trick". You basically pull the whole think apart and create your own heat sinks. it works for a couple years and you have to do it again. Mine finally got the RROD AND the E74 message at the same time. I finally said fuck it after getting 3 different Xbox exchanges, doing 3 fixes on it, and hitting it numerous times. I now have a new fancy black one that runs quiet and properly with HDMI outputs and all the bells and whistles. The old one is sitting in he garage waiting for the desert....
Oh, and by waiting for the desert I mean I'm going to blow the fucker up. Fill it up with gasoline, shoot some holes in it, fill it with fireworks, who knows. All I know is that it will cease to exist.

The problem will only get worse. Its the disk tray starting to go out another common problem with xboxs. Eventually it will shit out all together, and right before it does it will probably start scrathing your disks aswell.

Your DVD Drive is probably on its way out, you can take it out and clean the laser which may help. You can get a replacement off ebay for cheap and swap it in, You'll have to switch out the board inside your original to the new one.

Might as well just spend some extra money and get the way better new version that will have everything working properly with a new warranty. All Xboxes are going to fail eventually, and the DVD drive was the last thing to fail on mine. It really is a shittily designed console.

if your mechanically inclined ( when you take shit apart you know which screw, bolt goes to what.. lol ) take your shit apart, and by the time you get to the lens which reads your disc, get a cotton swab and dip it lightly on some rubbing alcohol and clean your lense very gently.. while everythings apart blow the dust off your shit too.. and put everything back together.. i had my 360 for 3 years now and never got the red ring of death or anything.. just when the lense gets dirty it wont read my games.. then i take it apart and clean it..
