WTH does the Phi Mu sorority's "quatrefoil" mean?! There's a hidden meaning to it?

Does anybody know what the crap their quatrefoil *really* means? The symbolizm or "special" meaning of it, that is. That sorority is really bent up over that thing.

I was going to make a quatrefoil shaped copper dinner/serving tray for one of my friends in that sorority - but I want to know what the thing symbolizes.

Does anyone know or care to enlighten me?

Oh shit...something to do with Moorish/Gothic rights of passage...thus the shape found in many mission style homes today....A story of some bozo and the flower pedals was the secret right of passage...the flower pedal had four lobes pointing north/south/east/west...hell I dont remember all of it.
