Ohio: Death Row Inmate Takes Overdose
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: March 8, 2010
Gov. Ted Strickland on Monday postponed until March 16 the execution of a killer who took an overdose of pills in his cell and was found unconscious just hours before he was to be driven to his execution. The man, Lawrence Reynolds Jr., 43, who was sentenced to die for killing his neighbor in 1994, was found unconscious around 11:30 p.m. Sunday at the Ohio State Penitentiary in Youngstown. He was scheduled to die by lethal injection on Tuesday. He was listed Monday in stable condition. Officials did not say what kind of pills he took.

Stupid as it sounds, he has to die in front of witnesses. Meaning that he has to be awake and alert, then dead.

haha...i find it kinda funny. i mean...the guy is trying to kill himself so he goes out on his terms not the order of the law of the land and the decision of the justice system. yet the system saves him so that it can kill him. haha...ironic.

What! Wait! That asshole has been on death row since '94??? If you ask me, that's where the fucking problem starts. When sentenced to death, they need to haul the convicts ass out to the courthouse lawn, string up a rope and do the deed then and there. If there was a trial and the person was convicted then the sentence needs to be carried out promptly.
That in itself would save the State's a shitload of money. That's 16 yrs of upkeep and legal fees for the dirtbag the State has had to pay. If they carry out the sentence the day the trial ends, they'd be a lot better off.

The theatrics of hanging might sway away some would be criminals imo. Especially if you over weight them

he's going to die either way... both are painless... no need to wast anymore tax money... now tax payers pay for his hospital bill as well as his death penalty and all his jail time...
unless the person is guilty with no doubt then yes... but in many cases evidence is brought up and an appeal is made... i'd be pissed if a family member was wrongfuly put to death... but that amount of time is out of hand... there need to be a cap on how long that person is here... maybe 2 years at the most... it's not like the line at walmart when there is one registere open and the employee is mentaly handicapped...
