I had carpal tunnel surgery last month and got a check for $1122.00 for being off work for 2 weeks which is how much I normally clear after taxes for that same pay period. Now I'm back to work on light duty while my hand gets better. Well, I got ANOTHER check for $1122 in the mail today for temporary full disability AND I WANT TO CASH IT!! Would you? I mean, they sent it to me, so I'm assuming I am in the clear. THOUGHTS??

It's really up to you. They will figure it out but it may take 2 or 3 month's. Consider it an Interest Free Loan for that period of time. Just be prepared to pay it back. Heck you could probably turn it into an Interest Free loan for 5 or 6 month's just paying it back. Play Stupid...

Had a hospital send me a bill for $1000 once.....sent them a check & about 3 weeks later I get a check from the hospital for $1000.
Called their billing dept. & asked them what gives & they said they owed me the money because I overpaid them.
I asked them if I cashed the check would we be all square & they said yes. I asked them to send me a reciept stating I was.
They did, I cashed the check & all is well.

So cash it already.

If you like yoru job and want them to trust you... You should check with payrol to make sure it is not a mistake. If it IS a mistake, cashing it is wrong. Also you will get caught and you will lose trust with your employer.

Agree with most others, don't cash it. Find out from payroll why you received a 2nd check for the same amount.

The satisfaction you will get for being honest with your employer and more importantly, with yourself, is worth more than an $1100 check IMO.

it's easy for people to be honest when nothing happens to them....it's times like this where you find out if you really are an honest person. I know for me it would bug the shit out of me if I didn't say something. No way I could cash that check.
