    Would you buy a hybrid?

Would you buy a hybrid if they had a little more power and didnt look so goofy? Im not suggesting selling your cars to buy a hybrid. Rater, use the hybrid as the daily driver and the sports car for weekend fun.

i read somewhere that you have to drive a hybrid at least eleven years in order to cover the increased cost of the car at purchase. something to think about.

No, not enough power / not practical.

They don't get gas mileage that's enough better than their non-hybrid counterparts to justify the increased cost.

I would, if I had a 45 or 50 mile commute every day(if they ever work the bugs out of them…) but they are still gay…

If you had a 45-50 mile commute, you'd probably be better served by the regular version of the car (unless you were doing a 45-50 mile commute in the city). On the highway, they're no better than their non-hybrid counterparts.

I will be ready for a nw car in about 5 years.
I will seriously consider a Hybrid. Hopefully, by then, they will look cool and have a little more power.

GM already has a hybrid Silverado.

Gets better mileage than the normal truck, but still has the power.
At least from what I have heard.

it isn't about being cheaper on gas, so covering the cost of the car with gas savings shouldn't be considered. It's about saving gas overall.

Yeah I'd buy one, if we all had one we'd all end up better off in the long run. Want to talk about gap technology? when everyone finally realizes that gas supplies CAN be exhausted and we have nothing better lined up yet you will see the worse gap technology you could imagine coming out of the woodwork as we try to scramble and save our extremely non-conservative lifestyles

You got that right. Most hybrids see very little improvement with highway mileage. The extra $4000-5000 to buy it will take years to payback. If the inurance companies haven't figured out that the repair costs will be a lot higher, they soon will, and that means higher rates.

You better do the math before you get a bike... Unless you replace your car, there probably isn't enough savings to offset the cost of a bike and insurance. And I needs my car for the winter. (I'll miss it, but I sold my bike)
