I was reading about that the other day. Major kudos to the guy who fixed it up for him for free! The guy who did it in the first place.. Was he even a certified tattoo artist?

IIRC the orginal artist was just starting out and had little experence. He did tried to fix it at a later time but still wasn't successful.
My half sleeve on my left arm was done kinda like this guy. I had an old tattoo (my 1st) from my youth that still had meaning to me but was faded and needed touched up. The artist I went to we talked before about some ideas and he asked me about it. I told him the meaning it was to me and he tells me come back tomorrow and we'll work on it. I show up and he breaks out sharpies and free hands what he would like to update it as. I like it a lot. So 5 hrs later it was done. A year later I came up with an addition to what he done. I added my families Astrology signs in such a way that it all looks and fits together. He loved it and again drew it out again, another 5 hrs later finished.
Now here's the kicker. Total cost was $300 and a case of beer. He did close to $1200 worth of work for that just because he liked the reasons behind the ink.

That's great man, its always good to hear about tattoo artists with heart. I was thinking about getting some ink myself but I don't know where to put it. Once i get my first vette I'm thinking about getting those flags on me somewhere.. Or maybe something with a little more personal meaning ha I'm still in that thinking stage

I've seen kids, pets, GF/BF names so it doesn't surprise me.
Quite a few soldiers I know have had their "dog tags" tattoo to body parts (torso, legs, arms)
