Worst day ever!
was out behind my house at this park playin catch with my friend and I took my black lab hunting dog with me. She always goes with me and is the best trained dog I have ever owned. On the way back up the hill My dog ran accross the street and was hit by an Suv. She died in my arms on the way to the vet. Im still in complete shock about the whole situation. .....I dont expect a response I just needed to get it out

Condolences Brett. I've lost a dog before. They become like family members over time. Keep your spirits up buddy and when the time is right, go find yourself another pup!

Damn bro, I’m so sorry to hear about this. I don’t know what I would do if this had happened to one of my dogs. My dogs are like my kids, just hairier and more slobber lol. Just be strong and remember her for all the good times and the crazy things she did to make you laugh, it always helps. Keep your head up bro, it will get better.

I feel your pain my friend. We lost or Shepherd 2 days after Christmas this year due to unknown internal comlpications..
Hits hard as they become so engrained in family and everyday life. Our "Lucy" was like yours, the best dog I'd ever had.
She was the best Den mother with our little girl one could ask for, she too died as I held her.
At least she had you there for her as comfort when she pasted. I know that does'nt make it any easier for you..
But at least she was loved and did'nt die alone.. Good companions are hard to replace..
My condolances, to you and yours.

Thanks everyone. After I wrote this I went down and buried her next to my old hunting dog that died earlier this year under an oak tree below my house. That was the hardest thing Ive ever done. My family is away for the week so I had to do it alone.

Damn bro my heart goes out to you...I don't even want to think about my dog passing. If that SUV driver was speeding I hope you beat the shit out of him.

Tragic accident. But an accident none the less.

So you're saying speed isn't a factor in determining stopping distance? Not only is it a huge factor but driving slower also gives you a better reaction time and you can see more of what's going on around/in front of you. I'm not saying the dog could've been avoided 100% but it sure doesn't help if someone is hauling ass down the road. If someone is speeding and hits a kid they're done. It wouldn't even matter if the kid just popped out of no where...lawyers would have their ass for breakfast. But because it's a dog no one gives a shit except the owner and people that can relate to the owner.

Sorry for you loss man, I just lost my childhood dog a while back. Hardest thing ever to get home and find out he's gone. I know right now your probably not even thinking about getting another pup, thats how i was but then I was given a boxer pup and its strange man, this pup resembles my old dog in so many ways!
