WOAH! Ls1, Baby!

i have had a 1994 for about two years now. its great have had problems, nothing major. anyways, i have always wanted a ls1, but they are too much. i just can't afford a $11,000 car right now. or even 8 or 9 grand. i was driving along in the z today, and i saw a 200ish camaro.

i thought it said $11,000 because if the way it was written. as i got closer, i saw that it said $4,000. v6, i thought. as i passed, i saw a z28 emblem. so, i locked up my brakes, turned around and drove up. real trashy looking place. guy came out, asked him what was wrong with it, he said nothing. i asked if it was a salvage title, no. how many miles? (i'm thinking 160k +) he says about 85k. !!!

starts right up (like 2-3 turns). so i drove it. it pretty much hauls. breaks the (old cracked) tires loose at 40. feels tight, runs great. oil looks good, no burnt smell to the trans fluid. i have my mechanic look at it, he gives it the thumbs up. looks like it was a police intercepter. not good, but if it's solid, it's solid, right?

so i bought it. here is a list of all the problems:

paint looks like ****************! looks like it was done with spray paint. piss poor job.
dash is peeling a little
some holes where stuff was mounted (easilt replacable)
padding is missing from sides of drivers seat (WTF?!?!)
no keyless
stock interior lights dont work (aftermarket light)
drivers lock button doesn't affect the driver door.

how did i do?

btw, police int. = hours spent sitting in a parking lot, running, and running and running.

right. i mean, i wasn't the deal of the century, but i'm pretty happy. i mean, i've been looking lately at cheap ls1's. the cheapest one i looked at was $6900, looked perfect. stripper car, burned oil, and the shifter acted like it was having a seziure whenever you got on the gas. and i had to drive 6 hours to get that one.

Is the whole cars paint like that or just on each side of the sail panel. I'm not sure but if that little triangle piece in the pic was not sanded you should be able to strip the paint off and clean it up looks like the owner was going for an all red look. Also look like the top started bubbling seems to be a common problem do a search for bubbling sailpanel and you'll find some more info on it. That dash trim around the radio you should be able to pick up off ebay or even off the for sale section here fairly cheap. For 4k it does't look that bad Id say you got a pretty good deal.

the whole thing is not that bad. paint thinner? wouldn't that look weird with the red top?

I think the best value out there right now are the C4 Corvettes. Lots of pristine under 100K run like a top C4's out there for sale for around $5-$8K right now. L89's and LT-1's both...........
