315's will tuck in, my 305's still have ample room, as a matter of fact, when they wear out, I plan on replacing them with 315's as they will fit on my 11" rim. I used to have a bunch of pics posted when I put my 20" Z06 rims on my car cuz a few people wanted to see what it looked like with 20's, but you can still look at my Avatar and see the 305's on all 4 corners, or go to my personal page for a closer look and see how much room there is in the back. Same pic, only bigger.

triple-black- 2000 CamaroSS convertible
on stock wheels, you better stay @ 275s.
You can go 335 on all corners, but need 12" wide on all corners.
I have 315s on all corners (18s on street, 17s @ the track, and who cares about 1/4 mile)Eugenio_SS
almost stock triple-black 2000 SS convertible with 17x11s on all 4 w/ 315s at the track or on the street with 18x10.5s on all 4 w/ 315s: (1), (2)

Jetstream Blue Metallic- 2008 Z06 Corvette
I just sold my stock set of wheels, and just for the record, I had put a fresh set of 285's on them before I bought my current set of Z06 rims, and had no probs with them at all. So if you want to mount 285's on the stock wheel, it is possible, although probably not what you're thinking as this thread is stating that you want to go as wide as possible. A side note to consider with today's gas prices. My car is NOT a DD, but if yours is, this may matter; If you begin to go with huge tires, your MPG will drop considerably. Mine did. I used to, as a consideration, get about 100 miles to the first 1/4 tank (3/4 full) with my stock 285's (up from 275) When I mounted the 305's on the car it dropped to about 65 miles to the 1/4 mark. Same exact type of driving etc... Granted I went up in wheel size, but this is a considerable drop to someone who is driving their car daily.
Just something to think about if your car is your DD.

Monterey Maroon Metalic- 2000 Z28
Just 3 days ago I put on some wide tires (275's & 295's). I was thinking that with more rubber on the road the rolling resistance would be greater and could reduce MPG. But a 35% loss is far more than I would have thought. I'm taking a road trip this weekend (hopefully) so I will figure out what kind of MPG I've got now.
-OP, my 295's are tucked in great but they stick out just a little from the rear bumper (similar to post #5). I think it looks bad ass though.

On my car gas mileage has not been affected by any noticable amount switching from the stock 16x8 rims w/ 245's to 17x9.5 and 17x11 with 275's and 315's. I DD the car and do about 500 highway miles a week. 26-28mpg highway with either set of wheels and tires and it's coming up on 127,000 miles now.
