Why I don't speed in residential areas.
I'm really just ranting. This poor little girl and her family fell victim to this guy. I can't even ask why the guy was even able to drive but his list of offenses shows he doesn't give a damn. He's going to drive with or without a license. From my experiences as a police officer...this guy confirms that it really doesn't matter if you have the right to drive or not. Some people are just going to do it, legal or not.
This is the reason I don't speed in residential area/construction/school zones. I don't speed much on the highway, just go with the flow.
The little girls dad was one of my instructors 7 years ago.
SAD!

A-holes like this need to be taken out back and get a beat down!
BTW OP, I was born in Brunswick, GA. Haven't been there since 74. Has it recovered from the Naval Base closer?

As a former forst responder...this guy SHOULD NOT have a license, nor the freedom to see daylight...EVER. Repeat offenders are a bold type. They misuse their constitutional rights to overstep their bounds. I despise people like that.
My vote is needle, or firing squad.

I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling like this. I'd have a hard time being the guy to make that arrest...I'd certainly want to beat the ever living fuck out of him even if I was able to be a bigger person and hold it in. All that aside from the fact that it happened to the daughter of a great American and someone I know.

I'd say yes and no. I'm not from here originally, the military brought me here but I've been around the city for over 5 years now and know a lot of guys who have been around 20+ years. The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center is on part of what used to be the naval base and keeps Brunswick going in my opinion. Tons of students and the staff out there keep the economy alive but the town still sucks. It's got just enough to make do but you still have to drive to Savannah or Jacksonville to find some specialty type of stores (Speed Shops) and the have more of a night life than the small bar/club type of thing. There's always good stuff on the islands though.

I dunno if the law here in NJ changed, but when I was studying driver ed in high school, the DMV manual stated 3rd DUI=Indefinate loss of license.
My heart sank even more when I read that young lady lost her life...IN HER DRIVEWAY. Man...was taken right in front of family/friends.

Lost license or not...I don't think this guy gives a shit. He's been cited/arrested for driving with a suspended license 6 damn times. It doesn't matter if he has one or not. He will drive and do stupid shit if he physically can. The only way to prevent it is to leave him in prison, kill him, or cut off his hands and feet so he can't operate a vehicle.

Well...here's to hoping that the juge/jury finds him guilty and sentences him to life in prison without parole.
PROBLEM SOLVED.

why isn't he in jail?
-

He's not in jail b/c out justice systems believes too strongly in rehabilitation. It has it purposes but some people lack the mental capacity to be a productive, responsible member of society. They have no respect for others. Rehab isn't for those folks!

I'm not a big fan of speed bumps, but even reckless drivers will slow down somewhat for them and pause at stop signs. Fewer tragic stories for the news. A combination of such measures should be available to neighborhoods that want them, maybe partly paid for by residents.

This guy should be sent to ADX supermax in Florence, Colorado. If that doesnt teach him, nothing will. But I am sure he wont last there for long, he would probably commit suicide.

I say put him in the dark for the rest of his life then. Let him go completely insane and do himself in. We NORMAL humans would be better off.
REHAB...MEIN @$$!!!

I'm not sure which is worse, having an officer come to your door saying your daughter was killed in a car accident or actually holding her as she passes.
I see the point in them but I hate speed bumps. Honestly I would consider not living somewhere that had them in the neighbour hood. Truly, truly annoying to have to go over everyday several times a day.
