Whos spending Thanksgiving alone?
I am, and will be drinking from the time I wake up til the time I pass out. I hate holidays, they do nothing but get me bummed out about all the people with families and then there is me and my family is my dog.
Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is exactly what it sounds like...a day of giving thanks. It's not about surrounding yourself with family that generally annoy the piss out of you. Give thanks for the things you do have, don't focus on the things you don't. My wife was telling me last night about a kid on her unit. He's 15 and has cancer. He'll be spending his last T-giving in a hospital bed and probably won't see X-mas. His parents will be there along with his 7 and 8 year old brothers. Now, think about how good you have it compared to this kid. It makes me more thankful than ever for what I have. Truthfully, a dog ain't a bad thing to have. I have one that will be 14 this year. Survived an attack by 2 pitbulls last summer that gave him a limp and cost him an ear but that dogs been by my side for 14 years. He's more like family to me than half my family I see once or twice a year.

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
3 years ago I had a family of foreigners living in my building. The mom worked a lame job, the dad was a well respected law enforcement detective with 10 years of service from his native country [thailand, i think]. When they came here, his education/background/service were all dismissed as being sub-par to america's enforcement cababilities. His applications were shunned from any local LE's and he was told to go get another Dective degree here-which after all the moving, he had zero money to do so and was forced to work as a delivery truck driver to fund his education and their family-barely making ends meet to feed their 2 kids.
I never felt like such shit after hearing that. Especially b/c I remember complaining about the wax job i did on the batmobile and then it rained.
so yeah, a little dose of reality put me in my place and gave me much to be thankful for. I think of them every year-I remeber I even re-gifted a basket of fruit that was given to me for easter and gave it to them.
