I'm from Northern Ontario. Biggest misconception Americans have about Canadians is that we live in igloos. THIS IS NOT THE CASE.
and no we don't use dog sleds as a means of transportation.
Saskatchewan is the booming province right now

we pay 13% taxes and our healthcare is covered.
Schools are great and University is a heck of a lot cheaper than in the States b/c ours is government funded.

I'd have to agree that Saskatchewan is the province that is booming right now. Alberta is kind of on a 'down-slide', they introduced that exploration tax for petroleums or whatever the hell that is...and of course a barrel of crude oil has dropped to something like 56 bucks now...alot of my buddies work on the patch and they've been off for some time, finally got a hitch just before christmas so thats good. Other than that, the forestry business is in the dumper and with falling prices of metal commodities, many mines and exploration companies are also either going bankrupt or going on "care and maintenance". 2009 is really going to be a shitty year if your involved in the mineral/mining business...
Anyhow, thats my opinion though.

my girlfriend is canadian.
we'we been there a couple of times. mostly quebec and ontario though. the only non-european city i'd really wanna live in is toronto.
to me, canada is an improved version of the u.s., cleaner, less crime and better health care. and the people are really polite. if just the winters weren't so cold....

winters have actually been quite mild in the last few years.. global warming ftw haha
I'm from Alberta (kind of like the Texas of Canada.... lots of money, oil, and cowboys hahah). This province was booming like crazy up until recently, things have slowed down slightly.
Canada is great if you don't mind living in a melting pot of culture and race. If you come to any large city, expect to feel like the minority if you are white.
