I still think most of your action would remain in the free areas. Only a handful of people would pay for forum access. You've gotta have more spiffs to draw people to pay to talk. I've been a member of many different forums, and not once have I ever paid. Thats partially why I like it here, you don't have to pay to access certain features, such as classifieds. A few of the forums I'm on, you have to be a subscribing member (usually more than the 20$ 'entry' level membership) just to advertise something for sale in the FS forums. PITA for someone who wants to sell a 35$ part but has to pay a 50$ yearly membership to do so.

I wouldn't propose to affect anything other than the one forum, no pay, no play.... Maybe the paid forum could have other perks (I don't know what they'd be) but it would also be a way to raise more money for the site....

Maybe like a signup bonus, get a care package, or maybe with a calender purchase you get a years subscription to the members forum? I may be onto somethin' there. That'd work I would think.

That mite lead out, but a care package of any value would devour the profit...

Care package = calendar, stickers, small stuff of small upfront cost of that nature. The calendars are 'expensive' to give away for free, but If you paid 12 bucks for the calendar (i honestly dont even know what the cost?) and didn't get anything, or 20 for the calendar and a years subscription, I would think that'd be worthwhile.

The only way I could see this work is if it were strictly a no refund type deal because I'd be worried someone would have the " I paid money to the site so I can do whatever" type of deal. We actually talk about this every so often and I think the bad outweighs the good most of the time. We'd even talked about a no rules or very few rules type of forum where anything does go. It just never gets past the "talking" stage usually. Sarge normally is the one to bring it up and is a huge fan of the idea. I'm not against it at all and would support it.

Well, like stated in the other thread.... NO REFUNDS except maybe a technical error (double charge, etc) The rules could be lighter, but you screw up and get banned, its sorry for your luck.... put that in the "I agree" terms bs....
