It was a midnight movie as soon as it came out. It was at a two screen theater which was a big deal back then. On one side was Rocky Horror and the other was Heavy Metal. I have the sound track and DVD. I have not watched it in a few years I think I need to play it again.

Saw it not sure how many years ago and thought it was kinda-different-kinda-wierd-kinda cool.
I did like some of the soundtrack songs and they seemed well suited to the scenes they were aligned with. I still have Sammy Hagar's Heavy Metal Noise somewhere on my iPod.
Recently I found out about a Heavy Metal 2000 film.
Holy Moly what a steaming pile of horse manure.
Terrible story, terrible "music". Basically unwatchable.
I think I made it about 15 minutes in before deciding that the cobweb under the corner of the chair opposite me was far more interesting.
I pretty much agree with the following synopsis...
Heavy Metal 2000 received negative reviews; based on 9 critics, the film currently holds a 0% rating on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes

I was 8 in 1981. I don't remember it either. Although when I was 8, kids played outside until the street lights came on, then it was bed time. LOL

Saw this in 75 when a sister took me with her to see it. I was 10 at the time and had my parents known about it....... Heavy Metal the movie was so much better!!!!
I know most here have seen Smokey and the Bandit. But some of us saw it in the theater when it came out. Heck and Star Wars as well. Just had to show my age...Last edited by Z28Thunder; 07-28-2014 at 02:11 PM.

FWIW, the Corvette from Corvette Summer used to cruise with the rest of us down around Hermosa and Redondo Beach back in the late 70's-early 80's...
Are you talking about Tommy, the movie with Roger Daltrey and Elton John? Caught it at the base theater when I was stationed in Korea...

Another anecdote: Saw Lynyrd Skynyrd back up The Who at the Great Western Forum back in 73. I was one of the few folks who actually knew who Lynyrd Skynyrd was...

Lynyrd Skynyrd Sweet Home Alabama is this state's anthem. It must be taught in elementary school because even my daughter has sung it without me ever playing it.
