    Michael Jordan
    Olympic Gold Medalist ('84,'92)
    Rookie of the Year ('85)
One of 50 greatest players in League history ('96)
    MVP ('88,'91,'92,'96,'98)
    6-Time League Champion (1991-1993,1996-1998)
    All-Star MVP ('88,'96,'98)
    14-time All-Star
    10-time All league First Team (1987-1993, 1996-98)
    All league 2nd Team (1985)
Defensive Player of the Year (1988)
    9-time All Defensive first team (1988-'93, 1996-'98)

I have a shirt with these stats on it. I am a Jordan fan and have been since I was very little. Hard to argue with those stats.

Please all, do not forget the 72-10 season the Bulls had also. I stand firm in saying NO ONE will beat that record in our lifetime.

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan

Basketball is just one sport. If you want to say best Basketball player then Michael may win but I think Bill Russell may have something to say about that. Hey, how about Babe Ruth ? He was a great baseball player and pitcher but I bet he could not play Baskerball. An Athlete can do everything well. Check out Jim Thorpe or Bo Jackson.

Thorpe is kinda out of sight out of mind. In the modern era, not many people know what Jim Thorpe really did. Not disagreeing with you, just pointing out that he may be a forgotten hero.

To me this is a really unanswerable questions just from the standpoint of not being able to directly compare athletes in different sports. But this topic has always intrigued me, always wondered how guys like Lebron or Kobe would do playing something else like football.
