My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
what's the right thing to do?
My family is a very caring and giving group. My brother, a "Sarge" in the making, is self-made rich beyond belief. He's offered to help us pay for some of the house. We don't need it, but it's a huge help b/c it'll increase our down payment to 10% and we can get a way better rate.
His comment was "I have more money than i know what to do with...it's not like i can take this shit with me when i die"
We'll, he recently became engaged [he waited until after our wedding] and i'm at a delema...
WHAT DO YOU GET THE PERSON WHO HAS EVERYTHING!?!!? How the fuck do i say thank you to him? What should I do for a wedding/engagement gift???

Give him pictures (framed) of you and your wife in your new house. Basically giving him a sense of being close with your new family. Also invite him over for weekend dinners or whatever. Giving him material things doesn't seem to be the right action.

I agree. Material things wouldn't go as far toward saying thank you as brotherly love.

Yeah I would just throw him the biggest baddest party ever. Find out who all of his old friends are he hasnt seen in a long time and gather them up. Also you could put together a really good speech for him and his wife at their wedding. Just dont be too trashed!
Better yet, arent you a photographer??? Take pictures of his woman on the hood of his car and give them to him for above the fireplace! j/k

You could buy a couple thirdgens and go to a big empty parking lot at night and have yourselves a fun little demolition derby. Shouldn't cost more than a few hundred bucks.

the best thing to do is jus be a good brother to be honest. What i would do is schedule some kind of activity for the 2 of you that you either both like or he really enjoys himself and spend the day participating in the activity, then go for beers afterwards. you show him that you know what he likes, and then you have the opportunity to talk to and drink beers with your brother. whats better then that?
