What's the excuse this time for gas prices?
Okay, for those here who seem to routinely defend oil companies/stocks/whatever when gas prices start to go up, please explain the reasons for the price increase over the past few weeks.
I call BS, but I'll listen to what you have to say.
Expect a rebuttal though.

After that fire at that plant in Texas our prices jumped. Im sure that plant churned out .0000000001% of the gas we need. Either way, the companies just want to be rich beyond any measure.

I think it is extremely stupid that car companies are going to be required to do the 35 MPG thing but gas companies can gouge the hell out of us.

Like I bitched about in one of the other threads. The fucking wide blows the wrong way and gas prices are up 20 cents in a week.

Any excuse they can use to jack the prices up they will. I don't know how the refinery in Texas would effect people in Flordia. That refinery supplies NM and the Panhandle of Texas with fuel (according to the news). Our prices did go up here in the Panhandle. Thats why I've been driving the maro as much as the weather permits, easier on gas then the truck.

And gas supplies are the best they've been in quite some time.

If you don't like the price, you could always make other arrangements.

It's only going to get worse. If the supply is lower (even if the Texas refinery amounts to a hill of beans in the big picture), it is a psychological effect that will raise prices. Also with spring around the corner the demand will jump since those who can afford to go on vacations, will. This pre-recession financial picture is looking gloomier all the time. While the tax rebate is nice, how much good is it really?

put it this way they are fucking gouging gas here in chicago jumped anywhere from 25 to 30 cents a fucking gallon and guess what in that time frame no new gas delivered hhhmmm yeah gouging there. Also how about this if they are going to required car manu. to build 35mpg vehicles or better how about the new tax system they are trying out in a few states where you get taxed per mile driven than per gallon. So now gas companies will bitch they aren't selling enough gas and more gouging then the states will gouge us on the new bs tax system with tax per mile. Yeah in the end fucking consumers get it in the ass. Fuck you big oil companies how about you go sit on one of the wells and let them open it on you full pressure fucking theives. Then fucking government can go fuck itself on the shit of taxing the fuck out of us.
