This question came up at work its a little weird, but what if you were stuck in the desert and you were getting dhydrated. Would you drink your own pee or just die? I say die! Also you can only drink it twice cause of toxins!!

I know it's an actual survival method to drink your own urine. I'd have to be near death to think about doing it though. Right now a glass of water from the cooler sounds good.

That is a weird topic. I would deff not drink it, as the salt content in your urine would only dehydrate you more and make you more thirsty. It would ultimatly most likely bring you closer to death then help at all.

ur body takes out what it needs from what u drink, and leaves the excess as urine. therefore drinking urine, ur only ingesting what you DONT need.... soooo basically if u wanna wet ur throat, go for it, but its not gonna quench ur thirst cuz its just gonna pass right thru ur body

First, survival is a last ditch effort to LIVE. You will not be gulping urine down like a 32 ounce gatorade or water. For survival situations, you need to pee once or twice and sip it slowly over a long period of time. Remember, you only need to get enough liquid to buy yourself time until you get rescued.

Some background Info:

Urine, 95% of which is water, 2.5% of which is urea and uric acid, and 2.5% of which is a mixture of nitrogenous wastes, is not a toxic waste product. Urine is a blood byproduct and though it contains some body waste, it is non-toxic.

Also, if you are not trapped in one place (such as under a rock or in a building), you do not need to resort to drinking urine to survive! But if you have to, you can!

Rescuers once found a 37-year old man alive in earthquake rubble. He survived almost 82 hours by drinking his own urine. His wife, daughter, and mother would not and they died. You'd be surprised at what most people (including yourself) would do when faced with imminent death.

Look for a dry riverbed or a low point in a canyon, and start digging wherever you see darker, moist soil or a depression in the ground. If you’re lucky, water will seep into the hole, and all you'll have to do is sit back and wait. If this doesn't work and you happen to have a large sheet of clear plastic and a bucket or something similar nearby, follow these directions: Dig a hole, place a bucket in its center, and cover the hole with the plastic, weighting its edges with rocks to make a tight seal. Place a small rock on top of the plastic, directly over the bucket, forcing the plastic to sag slightly. Over the course of the day, sunlight will cause water in the soil to evaporate; it’ll condense on the plastic, run to its center, and drip down into the bucket.
