What should I be asking for my car?
It's time I sold the Camaro but I'm not gettin' any bites... what do y'all think is a fair price for it?
1999 Camaro SS - Convertible
210,XXX miles
!AIR/EGR - K&N FIPK - Flow master muffler
4l60e
AC works great
Tires: 70% life
Paint: 4/10
(Cloth) Interior: 6/10 - door panels need work
Suspension and Drive train are perfect besides a [just recently] squeaky belt.
I've been asking 4,000... too high? That's about right according to KBB and half the price of others on craigslist with half the miles.
I don't want to sell her [despite her flaws]... but school is fucking expensive.

sorry to say but if i ran across that one even the price of $4k would drive me away from the car with those miles on it and the condition of the paint and interior.
has the trans been rebuilt and when? does it burn oil? how often is the oil changed and with what...etc, etc. pics would help although i must say i would be nervous to pay more than $2500 personally.

Don't be, honesty saves me time and bullshit.
has the trans been rebuilt and when? does it burn oil? how often is the oil changed and with what...etc, etc. pics would help although i must say i would be nervous to pay more than $2500 personally.
Burns about a quart every 5k.
5w-30 PP and wix oil filter
I can post pictures tomorrow, work tonight.
although i must say i would be nervous to pay more than $2500 personally.
Thanks.

the transmission is good news and you should use that as a selling point.
has the rear end ever been gone through and been rebuilt?
the oil usage could be better...but it could be a lot worse as well.
a little conflicted on it...but like i say...the trans puts me more at ease on it.
i'd throw a price on it of $3500 or best offer and see what you can get out of it. if someone walks up to you and gives you $3k cash i'd take it and run with it.
the biggest thing about it as that you will find one of two people looking at it.
type A will want the car just as it is and won't really care what overall condition it's in. they'll be the stereotypical 3rd gen owner.
type B will be looking at the car and thinking that it has potential as a project car.
type A will be more willing to put closer to your asking price of the car on it. type B will try and talk you down as far as they can go with it as they will want to save cash for rebuilding.

The rear end has not been rebuilt but it has never had anymore than stock power going through it with street tires. I did put new oil in it 8-9k miles ago. No metal shavings or broken teeth... put Mobil 1 back in it.
Thanks for your insight... I know its just a car... but I'm going to have a hard time signing the title over, I know.
I'm going to go clean it up, wax it, take some pictures, and put it on craigslist tomorrow. I'll post the pictures so you can see the paint damage I was talking about. (I got rear ended in the middle of the night and the paint on the bumper started peeling)

i know exactly what you mean. i got my 96 monte carlo back in 2001. it was starting to rust at the wheel wells, the trans didn't shift correctly, the engine had it's problems, the interior was getting pretty beat up, the exterior had dents and scratches and peeling clearcoat...but when it finally bit the bullet an i had to buy a new car i had a hard time getting rid of the monte. it had given me 8.5 years of service, several g/f's, and tons of summer fun. when i donated it to charity i cried like a kid losing their favorite toy.

A starting price asking for $4000 is ok. If someone offers you $3500, take it. I probably wouldn't take less than that.

I sold it for 3700.
I cant remember the last time I cried but when I left the title office I cried like a little bitch...
Sad. Fucking. Day.
This is how I'll remember her... when I had the money to keep her nice...

You said the paint was only a 4/10? It looks flawless in the pics. just looking at the pics I dont think I could have parted with that car for just $3700. It looks really nice. Sorry for your loss.
