What do you guys think?
I'll see if she can get pictures. I'm endanger of having to put the Camaro in the driveway if my wife gets this thing. I don't know much about them but here's what she's told me.
1953 Pontiac Chieftain, 7,083 miles, Flathead V8, mostly restored. Needs a tune up. $3,800.00.
The guy got the car given to him through someones estate and he is one of my wife's customers. She sold him 2 brand new cars today. Her dad had one of these when she was little and she's falling in love with it.
The woman is depleting my car funds. She wants a $1500.00 dog and a boob job.
I told her I want a 408 in the camaro and she just looks at me funny.
Anyway...any of you guys think it's an adventure worth looking into? The Chieftain that is...Last edited by IH8EVRY1; 07-26-2010 at 05:05 PM.

Mostly restored means you have thousands and thousands $ to go. Bring a magnet for inspection
also, is she capable of operating a carbed, points equipped, 6v generator vehicle?

Good luck finding Restoration parts for that thing. It's pretty cool though. It'd be nice to have.
Not something you see everyday.

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
Chieftains were rare, no? Before you buy it, check the internet to see if there are any repro companies out there. Better to know you can get parts before you buy the car.

Parts went down on my Falcon, lot cheaper then what it was 2-3 years ago! It's about to hit 100,000 miles, lmao so sad... No it has not been rolled over, it's been in my family most it's life.
I am sure there is something for the Buick, just look around.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
Does the Indian Head hood ornament still light up?
According to my records both a 6 and an 8 were available in 53. And both were inline. If it's an 8 cylinder car then it's an inline 8, 118 hp with the manual and 122 hp with an automatic tranny.
Also, while most auto's were Hydromatic they had a fire at the plant and about 18,500 of them got Powerglides.
Does it have power steering?Last edited by 67CamaroRSSS; 07-26-2010 at 07:50 PM.

Silver- 2005 Toyota Corolla (DD)
Tell your wife to save up for it herself.
Sounds like she wants a LOT of stuff.
I'd respond to her with
The way it's always worked between me and my wife is stuff that I want always costs 2x as much, meaning if I wanted a $2,000 car part, I better be ready to pony up another $2,000 for some diamond earrings. My choice, but she never said a word what I spent our money on as a result (I have always been "in charge" since I'm better with our finances, although I do include her on all decisions over $100)

Hmmm...I'll pass. I would tell her to at least help with the money if she didn't do it all herself. But I'm not going to tell her to b/c the next time I want something for the car she might tell me the same thing. Seeing as how I haven't finished buying everything for the h/c/i swap...that's likely to be soon.

compromise. you get the 408 but pass on the pontiac while she gets the boob job but no dog.
