What is America Doing?

Ok, the other night im watching the local news and they run a special on the new morning after pill. It is a birth control pill, which is 90 % active and girls must be 18 or older to buy. To me it sounds as if the FDA is making it way to easy to obtain these pills and thus causing them to fall into younger girls hands. Yeah it says you must be 18 to buy but we all know how easy it is for underage kids to obtain alcohol and tobacco etc....What I am getting at, is that these kids will turn to this pill rather than condoms, resulting in unprotected sex, and we all know that STD's are running mad carzy these days. I have also known two women to become pregnant while on the orginal BCP.

Too many people seem to go with the feeling and don't think about the responsibilities. I guess its going to be like alcohol and teens. Just another item that they will take advantage of and are to young to use responsibly.

As far as helping overpopulation, I doubt it. It just encourages people to be irresponsible and rely on a pill which they will forget to take and tada out pops another unwanted child.

If parents would stop being so retarded about sex-ed in HS or Middle School then i think kids would understand how much responsibility sex is; including protection against pregnancy and std's.

we'll see more sex-ed as the old world order of conservatives dies out and the modern/realists have more say on schooling.

I had sex-ed in school grade school and high-school and it taught me all I needed to know. I don't think that is the problem, it has more to do with kids being irresponsible.

How many times did you hear don't drink and drive in high school? and yet most of the kids did it anyways. Some even died in drinking/driving accidents and then thier friends would go to the crash site and drink.

It seems to me it is more a combo of bad parenting and a teens pressure to be cool and fit in and give in to the pressures

so it's safe to say that the religous, vegans, and republicans have destroyed our way aswell, right? B/c without choice in lifestyle this wouldn't be america.

Open-minded is just another word for "I am an accepting person who accepts everything that I agree with"

Every person who claims to be open-minded usually is rather close minded.

Kids are going to do whatever it is they decide to do, regardless of this pill. One thing the pill will help is a ton of teen pregnancies. Parents need to step up and handle this issue. The problem isn't with the pill. It's with the abusers of it. It's no different than alcohol. You have to be 21 to get it. But kids get it all the time. But I doubt you will see a big line of people headed to vote away the sale & distribution of it for this reason.

The suggestion of better sex education is a great idea. Very detailed videos & photos of the effects of VDs as well as detailed horror stories of teen pregnancies. But this probably won't ever happen because the majority of the country's parent's don't want their little precious exposed to such things, even though their little precious is fucking like a rabid bunny on Viagra when Mommy & Daddy aren't around.

no, those are the radicals. A truely open minded person has their own set of values but would give thought and consideration to someone elses opinions. For example, i'm an aetheist, but i don't mind discussing religion b/c some of the philosophy is extrodinary.

The goverment nor a politician can ever "guide" folks...that has been the biggest misconception of our times.....it is the collective whole...or the majority...when "they" get sick of all the bullshit ( I'll leave that open) then "they" will rebel and shut down all the media/groups/legislation that conforms to or protects the minority (s) that are corrupting the moral fabric of the country. We are the only country in the world that has " In God We Trust" on our currency...and the greatest country the world has ever known...I think the two go together.

totally agree. shitty thing is, parents aren't required to go to "parenting school" so it's a catch-22. whatever neglect the kids recieve from the parents on particular issues– is how the kids will treat their own issues.
