Question What is the absolute best sub amp ever?

My cousins who are much older than me(40+) say the best sub amps were made in the past 85-95, so I wanted to ask in your opinion who made the best sub amps back in the day and now?

I did not have very amps, but I have to say my 2 favorite ones were Soundstreme(sp?), and Rockford fosgate. The Fosgate wasnt quite as clear.

I had really good success out of Linear and Orion back in the day. A pair of Kicker Comp 15s and a Linear 5002 would blow your head off. Hell, I know a couple of people still running 15-year-old+ Orion Reds & Linear amps today.

As far as now goes, I like the Kicker 1000 I have running a pair of Kicker Solo 10s.

Shit, Back when I was into dumping money into that useless bullshit, I had the system that would blow you away.

Directed CLASS D 2400 watt amp
    Two Directed CLASS D COMP X 12's.

    All Competition series BS.

Thats the most powerful amp I have ever had/seen in person. Still have it if you want to buy it!

I've never owned anything rockfos made. I did try to avoid MTX, however I've got two pair of Xtant 10" subs (made by MTX as far as I know). Panasonic headunit, pioneer amp, polk door speakers. Ive had a bunch of Pioneer headunits.

Those Comp X are no joke. My buddy had 2 12s in his 1993 Caprice Classic wagon, and DAMN!! His car was recently stolen and recovered, and they took his amp, subs, ALL of his CDs...something like over 150 CDs.

I've got a D1200 Directed and 2 Directed Studio subwoofers. Had them in my Dodge Dakota...sounded incredible. Got them for sale actually.

But yes...Directed does make some good shit.

P.S. - my fucking dog farted, and godamit it stinks!!!! GTG real quick...damn...

LOL, I got a free 2000 watt pyramid amp... hooked it up to a single 15", that thing rocked! I didn't care if the quality was good, it just sounded awesome as a 16 year old driving my beater to school.

I'm a big RF fan, the current one is a 1200 punch and very crisp and clear... but blew a alpine type S so im looking to replace the pair of 10'' with either JL or Memphis...

The Phoenix Gold ZX series were among the elite back in the day. Orion, Kicker and RF were both pretty damn good too, but have 'cheapened' up in the last 5 years or so when they went mainstream.
OP, i agree with your cousin, the amps back in the day were much better than today's.

RF Punch series amps of the late 90's early 2000 era were top notch, Huge power output and way under rated, they kinda lost a little quality lately.
