Were we suppose to get $300 or $600 back?

The relief tax refund. I could of sworn in was $600 a person and if any kids its $300 extra (per kid up to 4)

If I am right, Why the hell did I just get a $300 deposit? I was looking forward to the $600 because I wanted to get something nice for my GF. I was in the Hospital for the last 5 days and she was by my side EVERY MINUTE.

No I am not married. and I don't make much. $45,000 a year is not that much these days.

Starting in May, the Treasury will begin sending economic stimulus payments to more than 130 million households. To receive a payment, taxpayers must have a valid Social Security number, $3,000 of income and file a 2007 federal tax return. IRS will take care of the rest. Eligible people will receive up to $600 ($1,200 for married couples), and parents will receive an additional $300 for each eligible child younger than 17. Millions of retirees, disabled veterans and low-wage workers who usually are exempt from filing a tax return must do so this year in order to receive a stimulus payment.
So why did I get $300....do they think I have a kid and sent me $300 first?

Did you owe fed and not pay it? They'll take any money you owe them out of the stim check...that's all I can think of.

Its based on what you make. 600 for single people who make at least 8k to 40k.

I dunno...i'm just going by the irs site.

"Your payment may be less than the maximum for one or more of the following reasons:

You are single and your net income tax liability is less than $600. If you file Form 1040 net income tax liability is the amount shown on Line 57, plus the amount on Line 52.
You are married and your net income tax liability is less than $1,200.
You are single and your adjusted gross income (AGI) is more than $75,000. On Form 1040, AGI is the amount on Line 37.
You are married filing a joint return and your AGI is more than $150,000.
You owe back taxes that reduced your payment.
You have non-tax federal debts such as unpaid student loans or child-support obligations that reduced your payment."

I made over $8k last year, paid all my taxes (got refunds), I'm single.....and can you believe I don't get a check becuase my dad is "able to" file me as a dependent.

He should have to split it with me or something.
