Thumbs up Went snowmobiling and come back.....

With a Broken Finger. (Title does have enough room)

my left ring finger has 2 hairline fractures and a chip.

The funny part is that I didn't hurt my self riding or falling. I hurt myself trying to manually start the snowmobile. grabbed the handle with my right hand and placed my left hand under the handle for support. As I pulled it, the handle slipped out of my hand and hit my left hand. It hurt like a mofo for about 2 minutes and i just brushed it off and continued riding for another 4 hours. I figured it was just a sprain.

On the way home, while my friend was driving, my whole arm started to get painfully numb and my finger started to turn blue/green color. Went to my work (I work in radiology at a hospital) I get my finger Xrayed and it showed that its broken.

to be honest, I never broken a bone in my life, and this incident surprisingly didn't hurt that bad. Now in the future, when I have patients with the same problems, I'll tell them to suck it up.

Here is my question to anyone who broken their finger(s):

how long did it take you to heal up to use your finger again?

I'm not allowed to work with my broken finger. I need both of my hands to move patients. I can't even put a rubber glove on. lol

Somehow I've made it through without breaking any bones either. A real miracle I must say.

But, I did fracture my right index finger during a volleyball game spiking over the net back in High School.

Hurt like hell too. But, I didn't think it was broken. Finally went to the ER two days later and it was fractured and chipped just like yours. Mine was right at the first bend on my right index finger (whatever you call that joint)

As I recall, it took a long time to heal and I had to wear one of those aluminum braces so it didn't bend. I'd say a few weeks if you don't mess with it and keep it straight.

I've never broken one of my bones.....I've broken bones on other people but none that were mine. I would imagine though that you can just walk off a broken finger. I'd figure it'll be a couple of weeks before you will be able to work.

3 months.....then again I also had cracked ribs, fractured skull, broken jaw, fractured eyeball socket and had my right thumb severed.

Make sure you keep your finger immobilized and keep the splint on. Should be good to go in 4-6 weeks. Give it time to heal.

Holy shit...I cannot be out of work for that long.

I had an appendectomy in June and the doctor told me i need at least 4 weeks before i go back to work. I was losing my mind by the 2nd week and was back to work on 3rd week.

Nothing quite as pleasant as smacking your hand when it is ice cold out.

    Sadly now demodded :(

4-6 weeks. I fractured the 4 fingers and dislocated my thumb on my left hand playing football when I was a kid.
