Well....I sold the GTO

Well after thinking LONG and HARD for about 6 months ive decided to sell the GTO. Not because I have to but because I feel that with Houses and Interest Rates being at there lowest that it would be a good time to start looking. The guy that i bought the car from actually bought it back. I put it up on the market and not 2 hours later he called me and told me hell be here Monday to pick it back up. Ill have made enough money to pay off not only the car but my 2 small loans(I took out a while back to help my credit) and also my work out fees; AND have about 2k left over. Plus im paying about $200 a month on insurance and notes. So thats going to net me saving OVER double of what im already saving up. So ill be able to start looking for houses VERY soon.

Now off to my replacement. I was still wanting something unique and quick.(Here comes the bashing!!) So i decided instead of a Chevy Ex-Cab with a 6.0 in it(Like EVERYONE around here has) that I would look at Ford Lightnings. Yea i know its a Ford but im not really biased on vehicles if there well built and look good. (Here comes more bashing!!lol) I didnt want to get another stock GTO mainly because I knew I wasnt going to be able to have a stock one after i had this BEAST!

The Lightning im getting is out of Lexington South Carolina. Im flying out Friday the 20th to pick it up and drive it back. Its an 04 Red Lightning with 27000 miles. Im picking it up for $17500.

Mods are:

* Hotchkis TVS suspension system installed
* Chickenears Ram Air cold air kit
* Factory Tech Valve Body
* 4X4 transmission pan for extra capacity
* Metco 4# lower pulley
* Bassani hi flow cats and midpipes
* Bassani catback
* Bassani baffles
* Diablosport Predator hand held tuner
* Gaylord Tonneau cover
* Chrome SVT wheels from Ford Motorsports
* behind the seat storage box (not standard in 2004)
* clear corner marker lamps

It made 400WHP 500WTQ on a Mustang Dyno.

Im going to put a remote start, paint all the plastics Red, and buy a SCT Tuner and have it retuned(Just because ill feel safer) when I get it. Prolly wont do much performance mods after that just because I want it to be dependable.

Thanks Guys. Yea i have alot of buddys that have Lightnings and they said theyll get about 14ish around town and 19ish on the Highway. I was getting 13 town and 21 Highway in the Goat. So its about the same. But yea that was a concern for sure when i was thinking about them.

Man im glad some people understand. Ive cussed out about 5 people for giving me shit because its not everyday that a 23YO is trying to get his priorities straight. Man this whole thing has been stressful. HAHA

Just kidding I almost bought one as a dd they are nice quick trucks, the gto is still better haha, but you just have to do what you got to do sometimes.

Sorry you had to sell the Goat, those are sweet cars.. I was "this close" (Get Smart voice) to getting one... But the damn dealership wouldn't budge on the price.
Not a bad second option tho.. I always thought the Lightnings had a great look/sound to them.. Not to mention S/C means you can play with them abit.. Sounds like it has some good toys already.. I'd rather have one like you found then a SS Silverado... (waits for the bashing) just because they abit more rare..well, and the S/C thing too

There is a thread around here from last year where I came real close to buying a Lightning

....but after driving the Silverado the Lightning just came across as a cheaper rattle trap plastic laden POS....the Silverado is solid....I dunno...I bought the Silverado just on quality...and it has paid off.....but hey...whatever blows your dress up it is all called Hot Rodding.....
