Weekend getaway destinations?
We'd like to do a little weekend trip somewhere, but have no idea where to go. I'd be fine with AC & playing poker all weekend, but she doesn't gamble so that's out. Obviously the shore is now out.
Neither of us are city people so I doubt NYC would be viable.
Anything left that isn't super expensive?

Depends where you're coming from but Door County Wi is a nice weekend getaway place. Google it... lots of nice places to stay, shops, parks, winerys etc. It's the end of tourism season there so the rates should be cheaper too.

I go to Lake Cumberland Kentucky often for a change of scenery. OR Norris Lake Tennessee. OR Piegon Forge Tennesse - rent a chalet thru VRBO (vacation rental by owners) .

MI would be closer and there is plenty to do there, plus it's really pretty there now this time of year. Don't think the OP is looking to fly anywhere if he wants a "cheap" vacation.
Boost gets you laid, unless your name is Jon.

He said "super" expensive, Vegas is cheap, but if you aren't city people, maybe go for a drive up north. That sounds legit to me.

True. Flights aren't too cheap these days though. I'm on a plane twice a week They do have some nice package deals for LV though which include hotel & flight.

I am not a city person either, but I view NYC as a nice weekend because the subways are inexpensive for getting around and if you shop around you can find reasonable deals on hotels... Although the city eats 20 dollar bills if you opt for cabs, walking is just fine and there are inexpensive restaurants as well as pricy ones. Heck, I can have a good time in NYC just watching people and walking from little deli to little deli, hanging out in the west village and waiting for fresh crispy cremes in chelsea...
