Watch out Toyota/Honda
I'm gonna get some gas mileage now!!
http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/07/...ew-ls-engines/
In recent months, there has been a great deal of speculation that, assuming GM decides to produce the Chevrolet Camaro, a high-performance model will be offered with a Corvette motor. In fact, GM's Bob Lutz has even acknowledged the possibility of shoehorning the Z06's LS7 engine into the Camaro. But according to the August issue of GM High-Tech Performance, the automaker could go a step further. The magazine says GM is contemplating putting the supercharged LS9 engine in a range-topping Camaro SS. GM is also said to have another 6.2-liter LS derivative in the works for its full size truck lineup. (Recently, we brought you spy shots of what could be the new LS truck engine). Lastly, the magazine reports GM is in the initial stages of prototyping a new "huge" LS-style engine with 8.3 liters of displacement and 900 horsepower. It's unclear if that engine is the LS9, or something entirely different. The source who worked on the engine said, "I don't get parts unless they're actually going to do something with them." (Recently, we noted GM registered the name "LSX" for a vehicle engine).

They have a diagram of the proposed 6.3 "LS5" with 3-valve heads on ls1tech. It made a reported 470hp @ 6700 and 383tq @ ? (don't remember). That seems like a nice base engine to me!

The GM fairy told me...
1. There will be a 3800 V6 with a blower option Camaro.
2. Stock V8 will have the LS2 as will the GTO.
3. Camaro will have a supercharged monster option. LS9/LS7 who knows. But a SS engine package will be rolled out day one.
As for price....GM has said they will offer a Camaro in the low $20's....that will be the 3800 V6. If history tells us anything...that will put the LS2 Camaro just under $30K.....so figure the Monster Camaro SS will run another $10K with suspension mods/brakes/wheels/tires....Should be fun...

oh wow another nail in GMs coffin... low 20's for a 6 banger... (id pay $2000 more for a gt stang) mid 30's for a z28 (5k more for a gt500)... and mid $40k's for the super man camaro... ok so that one might be worth it depending on how it compares to the gt500... but thats not what sells... thats not what saves companies...
camaro can never have more horses than vette... sorry guys that is gms flagship... and if they were gonna do a z06 motor in a camaro they would have done it in 02 with the special edition ones to roll more of them off the lot...
im actually still wondering if the camro is gonna happen... there is alot that can stop it b4 09...

First off, the 3800 has been retired.
So far the first year optional engine is slated to be a L92 (6.2L) with 1 base 300 hp V6 and second small displacement V8..... From what I hear....
