Warning to those who weld!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How many of you guys out there use brake parts cleaner to clean your engine bay and undercarriage? I know I use the stuff all the time. My dad even buys it by the case to use on his 2nd gen. T/As. I knew the fumes from it could mess you up but I didnt know it could kill you like this. Read this article!!!! It could save your life.

I weld a fair bit. Havent had any such issues so far, but that's good info to read to keep you on your toes about safety.

Whether you weld, or in the HVAC field, you deal with phosgene gas. IT IS NO JOKE!!

Worth noting not all brake cleaners contain tetrachloroethylene. I used brake clean all the time to clean parts before I welded them but just happened to luck out that the brake clean I used didnt have tetrachloroethylene. Shit house luck ftw.

This is the reason why the company I work for has done away with the brand they have used. They are switching to a different type thay doesn't have tetrachloroethylene.

Well, if it's given enough time to evaporate, then it porbably wont have any ill effects. But if there is visible bpc on whatever you're welding and you put the flame to it, then you're pretty much screwed.

This is why MOST brake cleaners are non-chlorinated. I don't know why they just dont all go that way. Would save a lot of cases like this....

Good info to know.
On a side note why in the hell did the guy wait 9 days to go the the hospital with all the trouble he was having. Don't get me wrong I'm not one for doctors/hospitals but when you have the symptoms he had your a tard for not getting yourself checked out.
