voice from the past
Hi folks - was a vet and then dropped off the face of the Earth for a while (well - actually met a girl and moved to NJ, so I guess that literally is dropping out of civilization huh?). Anyway - wanted to say "hi" again and get back into the groove. Give me a few nights of beer and forum surfing to see who from the gang is still here .

Well, I learned three things living up there.
1) All the Jersey jokes are actually true.
2) Contrary to what the sign says, it's the Garden State PARKINGLOT. Yes, I sat in traffic for about 3 hours a day (32 mile commute each way). And paid $2.80 daily to do so . For those who've experienced the joy, that was FOUR tollbooths going and coming (Pascack Valley, Bergen, Essex and Union).
3) The best part about New Jersey is leaving BTW - you do have to pay to leave (every bridge & road is a toll going out of the state).
Oh - the 'suggest the new state slogan' was a riot. There were some great ones including "New Jersey - most of our state officials have NOT been indicted" and "New Jersey - it always smells like this".

You probably don't remember me, and I really don't remember you.. I was around in '04 for awhile and then took a hiatus, came back to see most of the people I remember gone on to greener pastures (that other message board).
I went up to New Jersey once... I was with my parents, we went to DC and Philadelphia, decided to stay in Cherry Hill and the only other thing I remember besides being scared for my life most of the time is that you couldn't make left hand turns. It was always this bit about turning right and then going across or something like that.. what the hell is that all about?

Don't remind me. I lived in Cherry Hill for the last year. No, you cannot turn left. Everything is jug handles (yeah, I know) or a frontage road that leads to a traffic light. And it's way too close to Camden (murder capital of the US and a true shithole that sucks even for NJ). Although as above in an earlier post, there are actually some nice places in Jersey. Just expensive as hell. And I don't remember seeing one single fuggin' garden while there. I think the license plate motto was the state joke...........................

Oh, don't even get me started on the UGA/Gators/'Bama thing. Just gotta luv the warm fuzzies we get beating each other up in the $EC East. Well, we pissed off the Dawg fans in Athens this past year. After FL suffers a humilating defeat to Ohio State in the nat'l championship game, I'd love nothing better than to go back to Gainesville and run their season next year. And have Smokey crap on the field while we're out it

I never said Camden
I live near Belmar, Point Pleasant, Brick (which was voted one of the safest cities in the US), Freehold, Holmdel Etc. I live in a nice section of Monmouth County and I am 7 miles from the beach
