Virus protection which one to get

I am using a down load version of AVG, and I have AD-Aware SE and my computer is acting up. I am going to Best Buy to buy one and need to know what I should get.

I have zone alarm...I have had it for almost 2 years and no viruses yet. You don't have to go to the store to get most anti-virus software, you can just buy them online and then download them. Do some research on google and you will find some sites that list all the software with its pros and cons.

I use Avast. Its free for home users. Avast detected a virus that nortons and a few other missed when I bench tested them. Avast is a mature product, its been around for awhile. Another nice thing about Avast it does not eat up a lot of your system resources.

Why thank god for Macs? XP is a very stable safe OS. I dont run any AV on my PC's I havent for a good ten years. PC sits behind a router. I do run sophos to check every once in awhile. But have yet to find a virus on any PC's.

He says that because no one cares about them enough to bother writing viruses for them.

Exactly, thats another reason why I am glad not that many pple use macs. I just like the OS much better then macs. I have 4 laptops in my room and I have 3 different OSs. I have windows XP, mac, and linux. By far I like macs the best then linux and then windows.

Yeah, but more people are buying them now because they're trendy. Especially on college campuses. "Oooh look at my bright white laptop, yeah, it's a Mac. See the apple picture? Did I mention my shit doesn't stink?"

I prefer Norton over McAfee. I know someone who was renewing McAfee and it didn't work....dealing with their customer service in India sucked the big one! Finally had to call the credit card company to get a refund on it. If you never have to talk to em, you might be ok.

I knew you can get mcafee and symantec antivirus for free and I know you can get a fully licensed copy of office pro 2007 for $20 but I have never heard of getting it for free or getting XP Pro for free. Please tell how you do this. I am Air Force BTW.
