Viper giving ZR1 Run for its money

Although the Dodge Viper has 600 horsepower with a v10. The Zr1 has 620 horsepower with a V8. Yet the Zr1 has more horsepower, only because it has a supercharged engine in it. Guys on the VCA (Viper Club of America) forums are geting close to 2000 horsepower by simply putting a turbo or supercharger on them. Whats your oppinion.

I would say it's a little more then a supercharger or turbo......huge gains but 1400 hp by slapping on forced induction.......i'm calling B.S. slap one on a zo6 and you won't get that and it's a fairly large motor.....then again anything can make tons of power with enough money. Lets face it also, whats 2000 hp good for on the street? an ass kickin by a 500 hp car cause he can't touch the gas pedal without loosing traction.

Good point but it gives a great braggin right and yet what is the point of having 1001 horsepower on the Bugatti Veyron when it melts the tires when you get so fast.

Supercharger vs. 2 extra cylinders. What's their point?

its all in the set up. like the above mentioned. anyone with enough money can do what they want really. these dudes with 2khp vipers are not your regular guys like me and most members on this site. they are way beyond making good money. same for zr1 owners. remember just buying the zr1 is 130k easy. now imagine going through the suspension, powertrain, and drivetrain, to get 2khp. its doable. but i dont even want to think of the price tag that would come with that. i dont know viper prices but they more than likely are z06 prices, and that probably a steal lol. but again the whole set up of the car for how you want still is far from cheap.

I think a better comparison is the 505hp Z06 vs the 600hp Viper...two N/A motors.

Z06's HP per Liter (505hp/7.0L) = 72.14

Vipers HP per Liter (600hp/8.4L) = 71.43

BUT if you really want to compare the Viper to the ZR1...

ZR1's HP per Liter (638hp/6.2L) = 102.90

The numbers don't lie

Might also want to mention that the Viper outweighs the Corvette by 270lbs (3450lbs vs 3180lbs).

bull shit... you don' get 1,400+ HP from "simply" bolting on a turbo... there is a shit load more work that would need to be done...

absolutely! anybody that thinks that engines with that kind of power are merely bolt on cars really are clueless about building a car.

my answer to this question is who the fuck cares? I'd be happy with either car, and both cars are capable of performance way outside the driving capabilities of nearly everyone on the site. inotherwords drive either car and you get perma grin.

but none of that matters cause they are expensive as fuck

to tell you the truth..i love the vipers..the new model screams sex to me...but..i am a gm guy so i am kind of obligated to say vette..but really i would role with the viper just for its looks and exotic look

I saw a TT viper and a blown viper at the track in dallas on the same day and I think the best time outta both of them was a high 10, cant remember what exactly it was. they had brutal power and couldn't do anything with it..
