2016 Camaro SS - Summit- 2001 Trans Am WS6 - NBM
As big of a jerk cop as the one who tried to give me a ticket for my tag light being "blue" (because it was an LED tag light....) told me that I had to change it. I told him no I didn't, and I'd fight any ticket I got.... he gave me a 'verbal' warning, hasn't stopped me since. (I see him every day)

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
it is SOOOO pointless to argue with a cop. once they pull you over they pretty much allready made their decision.

kid in the car is a douchebag. arguing is not getting him anywhere and if he has a problem with it he can get proper documentation from the hoosier, the tire shop that installed them, a bill of sale, etc and can go to court and win. my guess is that he'll lose.

Yea if you would have watched it, it says he won, I guess technically we don't know for sure but im sure if someone posts the ls1tech thread here wed have more info on it. And no.. the kid wasn't a douche bag, he was getting a ticket for doing jackshit wrong, because the cop thought he knew it all and would be cool to pull this car over with slicks on. Cop had nothing better to do then harass the kids.

The officer was out of line and the officer was wrong. That said... Anyone who drives around with DOT slicks is basically a problem waiting to happen.
The sidewalls are designed to wrinkle under acceleration so they can roll off the rims very easily.
Speeds over 25mph on wet pavement will cause them to hydroplane (I know because I tried it).
As they heat up slicks get very sticky and will throw rocks damaging not only your own paint but perhaps someone else's vehicle as well.
Plus... The extended heat cycles from street use will suck the oil out of the tires fairly quickly making them far less effective at the track.
