    Vehicle History Report???

Just wondering who has the best history report, Carfax?? Also I was wondering how updated the report will be? Once I buy the car will the report keep on updating untill I sell it and can I still view the history after I sell it? Im just asking because if I pay $30 for a report I want a COMPLETE history of the car. Also I heard carfax doesnt show up in some accident, is this true?

The only things that show up in a carfax report are things that are reported.

    For example,

If I take my dads car out, hit a deer, drag the deer off the road and drive back home before anyone notices, fix the car myself to the condition it was before.

Was the car in an accident? Yes.
Will the accident show up on CarFax? No, because there is no police report or insurance claim for them to find out from.

The CarFax of my thirdgen says that it has never been in an accident, yet by looking under the hood it's obvious that the wheel wells / inner fenders on both sides have been beaten back into their relatively stock shape.

    Facepalm.

There's only one VIN ever created per vehicle....never any duplicates, just like fingerprints. The 20 records indicate there are 20 instances of reports being submitted....registrations, accidents, title transfers, etc.

Eg, a car that's never been in an accident but has had 3 owners will likely have 3 - 4 records on it. (For each time the vehicle is registered, plus when the dealership first possessed and sold it)

So this guy I went to in Long Island the other day had like 5-6 03/04 cobras and a few mach's just lying in his driveway. I just ran a carfax on two of his cobras and both came up as salvaged/rebuilt....LOL

I trust experian more than carfax, that's all we use at the dealership that I work at. Their records seem to be more accurate, and sometimes carfax gives reports of accidents that never happened.
