I don't like the the coolant passages (or lack of passages) on the 3rd cylinder when looking at the engine block. It seems like it would overheat. Although I would like to have my car as a project car for this experiment!! Give me a V12 and I will beat on it and tell yeah what I think.

2000 Grand Prix GTP- 2000 Trans Am WS6 M6
This has been circulating for a couple weeks now. The main problem I see is the cooling of the engine. Regular LSx motor already have a problem with cylinders 7 & 8 running hot and causing problems. How do they expect to cool 12 cylinders? Also, unless they make a custom carb-type intake, they are going to stave the back half of the motor with a front facing intake.

Isnt the crank two welded together? That would scare me.

Arctic White, red/gray- 1997 Corvette, 92 Typhoon
They combine the block, heads and some internals. They have completed at least two as one has gone into a suburban or some chevy SUV and one into an airplane. I do not think they have ever released any dyno numbers but I read on another forum that the owner of the SUV stated about 525hp. They did not do this to make power, they did it to be cool and unique. Maybe someday they will build one with an all custom valve train and internals and see what kind of power they can really make.

They said they still have machine work to do for the cooling.
One went in a P51 Mustang. They said the other two they made had billet cranks.
This time they welded together the two cranks and balanced it to try to keep costs down and see if it runs.
If I remember right...read that 2 days ago.

I love the LS motors but there is no way my ass is getting in a plane powered by this thing.....maybe if they just taxi up and down the runway.

It's a fucking abomination if they really put one in a P51. Merlin or GTFO. Even the early allison powered versions would shit all over this LS V12.
Edit: just read it was a replica P51. I think someone from the P51 community would have killed them had they put that engine in a real one.Last edited by 5.0THIS; 05-17-2013 at 11:41 PM.
