Using Xbox live?

WOuld I NEED to buy this adapter to play xbox live w/my wireless router or is there something else I can do instead of forking out anotehr $100?

No you don't need that overpriced peice.

I just bought the xbox wireless adapter. I'm sure i could have gotten a cheaper one that would have worked great but i just like the clean install of it. It just snaps right onto the back of the system.

Well I got the Linksys media adapter & it's not working. Whenever I run the test on my 360 it knows the adapter is there, but then fails the IP address test. What can I do?

Are you getting a signal? Is it encrypted?

The 360 recognizes that the adapter is hooked up, but then when it goes to check the IP address it always come back as "failed"

Of course it will know the adapter is hooked up, but is it receiving anything from the router? Also if you have an encrypted system it won't read anything from the router until you put the password into the xbox.
