seriously, what a fucking asshole cop! wow!

and also seriously: my apologies for that idiot countryman of mine. when you visit another country, be a good guest and follow the rules. 98 instead of 70 is a lot...
well, i go 110 on cruise control here, but that's a different story!

i was stopped once in florida, took off a little sporty from a light and was a bit too fast entering the village. the officer was very polite, gave me a little speech and let me off, too. but usually i'm a good boy at the wheel.

that really depends on who you meet... did you have bad experiences? but anyway, you won't get that kind of attitude and abusive language from european cops, at least not in germany.

I felt very unwanted in France. I WISH I went to germany. I wanna visit where they build BMW/M cars and I wanna see castles and breweries. The octoberfest must be nuts right now.

I want to go to france and wear an american flag shirt, american flag shorts. A we're #1 baseball cap. And just go around talking english really really slow and condescending to them. Walk up to random strangers and just say, YOUR WELCOME.

well, there is a pattern with many american tourists, which is that they often show little cultural empathy with the natives ("there's just weird food here, let's go to burger king", american group in barcelona's restaurant district ) and are almost agressively monolingual. i know this type really well, because there's a similar type of german tourist, who i always want to grab and say: learn at least hello, thanks and you're welcome in the countries language. and no, just because it's foreign and different doesn't mean it's funny, weird or stupid.

In England they call it a carriage way. Carriages haven't been the main form of transport on the roads in over 100 years. That's stupid. They call a truck a lory. That's stupid. In france they call it a royale with cheese, that's wierd.

Your statements are true, I agree that the basic civilities should be learned before visiting a country. I experienced the "hospitality" of the French firsthand while I was going to school in Germany.

A cig is called a "fag" in the UK the royale with cheese comes from the metric system (apparently they couldn't just call it what it is).

it was called quarterpounder (viertelpfünder in german) at first, but they got problems because the patty was less then 500 grams (1 metric pound).
